Watkins Glen prez not happy

When you have an idiot like Dewar in charge you are going to have races in the eastern time zone starting and ending at a ridiculous hour that will definitely prevent people from going to the track. It isn't even a question.

Almost 50% of the population lives in the eastern time zone and another 29-30% live in the central time zone so if the folks out in Lotus Land can't wake up in time to see the race show it on tape delay or let them record it.

Dewar has no idea what I'm doing at 10 AM(tbh I'm sitting waiting for a race to start). Dude can eat a bag of em'

Obviously it doesn't help the fans at the race, but like qualifying the day of the race as a way to pass the time. Otherwise, I hate the 3pm start times just like everyone else. I'd love having a race start at 10am if I was on the west coast. If soccer can get away with morning start times, I don't see why NASCAR can't

Yeah, umm I'm with NASCAR on this one. Not a great time for NASCAR to try and reduce the number of people who can watch a race. Also WGI sold out...again

That would be a dream come true. One of the better races would become the best.
If you are talking about the Glenn, they race in the rain. I think I am one of the only ones around here who would like to see them race on every track that way. Good time for some of the guys who know how to race on wet tracks to kick some butt. Justin Marks put on a seminar last year at Road America in the Xfinity. They had a couple of other road racers there who were making a close race out of it. One of the best Xfinity races last year.

Can't say I dislike the later starts, actually like them when qualifying is before hand. There are plenty of night races that start at 7 so a race starting at 3 ends alot earlier and allows people to make it home at an appropriate time. That race was quick at that so I don't see how that was really a problem. Now I do think the west coast excuse just that an excuse because I love waking up to Football for the NFL games in London and would feel the same about NASCAR in the morning.

I'm another that says race in the rain.

I thought only Xfinity ran in the rain. I vaguely recall talk about the "fake wipers" they installed a few years back but honestly don't remember any Cup rain tires. Nascar needs to find ways to make driver skill the main factor in winning a race.

Good for him to have the man hood to say what he really thinks concerning things that NASCAR does.

Got to agree. The guy is doing something very right. NASCAR should be asking the guy for input and suggestions not attempting to mess with his business model.

I love it when I am out west and the NFL starts at 10:00.

So Dewar is under the impression that California is NASCAR's biggest audience (false) and that these west coast folks are supposedly incapable of waking up before 10:00 AM.

There are people on this forum that have argued with me that the guy isn't a complete idiot. Maybe he isn't an idiot but chooses to behave as one.

Those West Coasters don't seem to have any problem prying their eyes open to watch other sports that start at 1:00 Eastern (re: that game where they throw, run, and kick an ovoid ball witht the pointy ends). Nobody seems to care about East Coast fans being able to stay awake through the 600.

From someone who lives in Cali, I've always been a fan of 9 or 10 AM start times. What's a better way to start a Sunday than with bacon and eggs, bloody marys, beer, and a race? I was gonna say something else that's a good way to start the day before a race, but I'll keep my post rated G.:D

I love waking up to early morning F1 races. An 8AM NASCAR start time would be awesome, to me. Get the bitch over with and still have time to enjoy my Sunday.

I can go both ways on this one, as one those west coasters ( not in Cali, oh god no) I like the later start times as it means the race starts at Noon , I like to sleep in, but I never complained when the races started at 10, so if the go back the more normal start times, I wont complain. And I understand why the later start times sucks for yalls out there on the east coast.
