That was cool Sterling calling VL !!!

Jamie did a great job!

I thought it was cool when he said go buy some Coors Light!

Awesome job! That definitely made an otherwise not too exciting race extremely interesting.

I wonder if he'll sit out his Busch ride next week in favor of driving the #40 again at Martinsville...

Can you believe that kid's excitement? What a great win for someone who two weeks ago had never even sat in a Winston Cup car........wow, what a driver!!:D

& it's great to see that you don't have to win in a Busch car to win in WCup!

the kid showed extreme talent but dont forget to give props to the pit crew bobbys car couldnt even catch that 40 most of the time. Great car great driveing skills

Congrats to Jamie and the entire 40 team. That was great to hera Sterling call victory lane:)

Congrats to This KID. What a Race! Glad to see him win in just his second try...

I don't think Jamie understood half of what Sterling was saying, what with all the noise and Sterling being difficult to translate to begin with. :satisfied

Jamie did an admirable job, though, with that "Buy Coors Light" comment. I bet there's going to be some partying tonight in Coorsville.

I told my friend when I found out McMurray was going to be driving the #40 that Jamie better make the most of the equipment he's being given, and did he ever. Good job for him, hope his equipment next year is as good as the #40.

I bet Jr and Jamie will be best friends after the night is over...haha, BEER BEER BEER!!

Wow, that is all I can say. Just amazing. Who knows what will happen next.

For a kid who's never won a race in any of Nascar's top divisions, he did pretty nice burnouts!!!

I'm such a SAP!!! I was actually tearing up when they were in VL. Actually, it started when they were interviewing his dad and just got worse by the time they made it to VL. I enjoy seeing the underdog win and he was definately the underdog today. Who wudda thunk it ?!?!?! WTG Jamie!

:leap:  :beerchug:

Am I the only one who thought Bobby Labonte looked a little pissed? He never said anything negative or what have you, but he sure didn't want to hop on Jamie's burgeoning bandwagon either.

I thought the door do-nut after the flag was very cool.

One bump or two?

Bobby had that one good shot at him and couldn't take the kid, and then he got picked off during another run. The kid had the car and ya gotta love a first time winner.

Some guys go their whole careers without a win and this kid gets one on his 2nd try. Wowzer.

I disagree Ward, Bobby did congratulate him in victory lane. Plus the afore mentioned donut!!

That sucks so bad that somebody wins a race in their second starts. Oh to be back in the days when people had to earn their place in the sport. I think it's a joke that he won that race and it really hurts the integrity of the competition. No one should ever win their second race like that.

I was wrong about the boy, I can admit it. I thought he wasn't ready. Kinda proves to me what a great team Ganassi has too.

He isn't ready. You were right to start with coonhound. He should never have been in that car to begin with and he shouldn't have a full time ride waiting on him for next year. I said the same thing about Jimmie Johnson starting this year and I still believe it. Neither one of them had done anything to merit their existence into Winston Cup racing. Especially into rides that competitive. I think my love for Cup racing is falling off. Bah.

Is it not true that if Jamie were a lesser driver, that he wouldn't necessarily have been able to be as successful in a good machine like Sterling's? At least, that's what I've always been told...

Also, I don't think Bobby Labonte was angry. He's just a very understated kind of guy. Remember when Tony Stewart interrupted his interview to give him a headlock and scream out "teammate!"? He took it in stride, barely flinched. Surely he wasn't angry with Tony. He's just a stoic kind of guy.

Don't let it get you down BC.Its like the music indust.Use to be you had to have a good voice, and be talented to get a hit record. Not now though, give any ol smuck a good studio, and equipent and your a pop star.Nascar is commercialized the same way these days. ;)

Yea, I know it is Pbunch. And it pisses me off. Guess I'm just in a bad mood and I have no respect for what some of these rookies are doing right now. It just seems to diminish the level of competitivness in the sport.

Mondays can be that way BC.Nascar has one motive filling that 43 car field.;)$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It makes the sport better, cause it shows what these drivers are made out of. Congrats to Jamie, he'll be someone to watch next year.

BC would you rather see another drivers brothers get a ride and take 15 years towin a race?

I think Jamie desvere a ride in Winston Cup !

I also think Bret Bodine needs to hire a driver & getout from behind the wheel

I understand that, Jamie does deserve a ride in WC... and damnit, he'll make the most of it next year.

Ok, here's a prediction for you all. Jamie McMurry will not win a race next year. He will not even be in the top 20 in points at the end of the year and he will not be in Winston Cup for more than two years. Nuff said.:p

Personally, I think the kid has a way to go as well. I don't see him at the level of Newman, Busch, Junior, Kenseth, or Johnson just yet. Those are the new crop of drivers (minus Harvick, about whom my opinions are already legendary.) who will take the sport to its next generation. Jamie, Elliott Sadler, Biffle, Craven I guess fits the catagory well enough, and Harvick I see as second tier. Compton, Atwood and others haven't really had showcase equipment yet.

Of course, it's all speculation. It should be obvious to anyone that Jamie McMurray is capable of driving top equipment and holding off seasoned drivers. But here comes the real question, and this is where IMO Junior falls short of all the wonderful things predicted for him: What can he do with a less than excellent car?

The drivers who can take a car that is not up to snuff and manhandle it home in the top 15, then take a great ride and win the next week, are the drivers who win championships. At least, they do if the good days outnumber the horrible ones. Cale could do it; Dale did it; Bill Elliott did it; Bobby Allison did it; they all had that ability.

To an extent, I guess I agree with BC, which is allowed since we ain't talking college football. :p Let's see what the kid has on the bad days before we make too many predictions. But you also have to admire those last 30 or so laps he drove. Plus what he did the rest of the race to put himself in that position. True, the pit crew and the setup under the car had tons to do with that, but he didn't goof it up in any of the 5000 places he could have either.

Not to kinda damper his win or anything but he was running the same car and setup that Marlin had when he won last year. I think he is a real good driver but I think winning his 2nd race is going to hurt him. He will be expecting very high results from now on and it isn't always going to be like that.

McMurrey is the real deal. Chip Ganassi is no fool. I think Chip found him a winner this time. Chip has found major talent for years. Heck, he hired Alex Zanardi for his cart team years ago. That guy is awesome behind the wheel of a car!

Chip and Jamie will do great together. Now the question is will Sterlin be back in the 40 car?????? LOL

Ward-Fan, thanks for putting what I was trying to say in a nice paragraph form that made sense. I've been kinda frustrated all day so it's tough to be long winded about something.

I think you could use Jimmy Johnson as an example. He had no better background than McMurray and then comes out like a worldbeater. So it's certainly possible he's the real deal.

Didn't we think JJ was a fluke early on based on what he'd shown before this year?

If you think Jamie hasn't proven himself.. think again. Chip is no fool, and he wouldn't have choose Jamie if he knew he couldn't get the job done.... McMurray: 2 races, 1 win. Sounds good doesn't it?
