I have one and want to learn, but dont really know any places i can take lessions that wont cost a arm and leg, plus i think i need a base because i have big fingers and a 6 string is had for me to use.

Big fingers can be a detriment at first when playing the a 6 string guitar. But it can help too.

Stevie Ray Vaughan had some of the biggest strongest hands you would ever see. But that actually helped him a lot. He was able to play 12 gauge strings which most people wouldn't dream of trying. That was one of the keys to the really rich, full, fat soulful sound he had. I play with 12 gauge strings because he did. Trust me, it ain't easy but I have finally come close to his sound with the 12 gauge strings on my Fender Strat.

Man, I want to learn the mandolin sooooo bad. I can pick a tiny bit on the mountain dulcimer, but I haven't gotten a mandolin yet. Beautiful instrument.

I totally love it...

I've played guitar for 10+ years but never did much more than rhythm strumming stuff...but a mando is mostly picking....I'm hooked!

Now all I need is some people to play with!
