I never got that much when I was growing up. My Dad was a sharecropper if you know what that means. :(
Sharecropping still goes on in these parts too. My uncle was one. It's a hard existence.

As to my goodies, I got the new CD player I wanted, a Metallica CD to go in it, various clothing items including some sub-zero coveralls that I desperately needed, a James Bond DVD, a DVD player to put it in, and assorted other manifestations of good will and benevolence.

Well, let's see.......I got the rest of the books to complete my Patricia Cornwell "Dr. Scarpetta" series, Jeff Gordon's book, some perfume, a Jeff Gordon bobble head, and some cash. Part of the cash has already been spent on a new Jimmie Johnson leather jacket. The rest of the cash will be spent wisely. Oh, and I received as a very special gift, new hardwood flooring for my living room and hallway. Thanx, sis! (Can't wait to install it!) :)

Have you read the last one Maj? I am about 3/4 of the way through it. I was totally shocked...well I can't say what about, 'case you haven't read it yet. ^_^

Oops, I need to rephrase that. I didn't get Blowfish. I buy all of my books in paperback, and it is only available in hardback. And, I also got John Grisham's The King of Torts too!

Did ya miss me when I was gone, bowtie? :)
why certianly Maj. :bounce: [/b][/quote]
Why, thank you, bowtie!

Blowfish! that's it I couldn't think of the name and I don't have it with me. Anyway major shocker in it... at least for me. I had to put the book down for a couple days, I was so mad. :p Anyway very very good.

My mother is reading it, too. She said that it's kinda hard to get into at the beginning, and when she started reading it, she really wasn't in the mood to read. But she started it anyways. I thought the same thing about a couple of her books, but after the first 20-25 pages, things get interesting pretty quick. I'm looking forward to reading Blowfish when it comes out in paperback. Right now, I'm reading Hornet's Nest.

Did you read Last Precinct? because Blowfish has a lot to do with it.

Yes, I was unaware that you really need to read her books in the order that she has written them. Oh, well. They are still good even if you know what happens to some of the characters of the book you are reading by having read the book that comes after. (i.e. The Precinct and the book that is right before it)

Yeah some of hers you really need to read in order. HAve you tried any Nora Roberts as JD Robb? Because those you really don't have to read in order.

I haven't read any of hers that I know of, but that's not saying much. (CRS takes over sometimes) Once I have finished the 7 books that I got for Christmas, I might try reading a book or two of hers. Do you have any suggestions?

I also have enjoyed Iris Johansen, Sue Grafton (read in alphabetical order) James Patterson and your old Earl Stanley Gardner. I REALLY wish my eyesight would allow me ti indilge in my passion for reading!

the In Death series is awesome, they dont have to be read in order and the first time I read them I just read them as I found them. The second time through I read them all in order. I love all of them.

AAARRRGGGHHHHHH...I can rarely read a book twice!

Anybody like Dean Koonts or Stephen King??

Used to read everything that Stephen King wrote. The only book of his I couldn't read was The Shining. Tried to read it when I was a teenager one weekend when the rest of the family was out of town and I was at home alone. Not a good idea. Might try to read it now, since I am older.

Yeah, it is difficult. Maybe Bag of Bones or The Stand. They're all good though.

I like Agatha Christi (sp). and of course J.R.R. Tolkien.

I could never get into Tolkien, but I love Agatha Christie. The Miss Marple stories are my favorite ones. Anne Perry's books set in Victorian England are also very good. They revolved around a police inspector, his wife and their relatives. There is a lot of insight into the Victorian society and morality. Check your local library. The main characters are Inspector Pitt and his wife Charlotte.
