What Makes a Race a Good Race?

I know I am going to get heat for this but I am still confident that Danica is going to win a major race one of these days.

No heat from me either. I hope she does well and I think that Miss Thang can win a few races in Nationwide. Will she ever contend for a Nationwide Championship? The jury is still out on that one.

CUP Racing is another story. I don't expect that she will achieve greatness in CUP. She could prove me wrong but...

There are several of us that want to see Danica do well. Her detractors are more vocal than her supporters but don't let that deter you from defending her and joining in on the discussions.:)

Love your opinion Beckya ..keep em comin ...and don't be afraid of a little heat...it's the internet ,everyone is equal ,give heat right back.

Nice post Greg, looking forward to seeing more of your thoughts.

Thanks FLFlash

A good race is like Art, and doesn't always have an ABC script.

For example the 2009 All star race.
Kyle Busch finished 7th.
Ryan Newman 18th
Jeff Gordon 19th.
While Tony Stewart respectfully won, the three names above made the show.

Kyle was killer on the restarts, even better than the usual restart animal.
Gordon was methodical and I think he was well set for a good finish.
Then Ryan Newman got a run up high almost out of nowhere was fast.

They came out of T4 and to the old track bump three wide, and you just don't do that at Charlotte .
Context is everything, they all three could accurately be called warriors, hell bent on winning, worthy of the respect.

Those moments are the keepers IMO.

Patrick was a sub-par Indy driver so I see no reason to think she'll set Nascar on fire. Hornish sure didn't and his Indy career stats outshine Patrick's by a mile.

Sub-par? Based on what? If she'd been in Penske or Ganassi equipment she'd likely have a few more wins.

She always finished well in the points and rarely wrecked cars. What killed her was Indy car going to road races and Andretti giving her junk road race cars.

Perhaps you're right so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what time reveals :)

Some other good parts to a good race.

-Kim Burton sightings
-Fist fights
-The only good rain was Ashley Judd's soaked dress at the Indy 500
-Cat fights (seldom, but I dream)
-ladies nights at the local short track
