What Makes Kansas so special?

Nope. Watch a replay of X qualifying from last year. They drafted together nose to tail just like at a plate track.

if you mean Xfinity? they don't race at Kansas. And if not that doesn't mean the cup cars run the whole track wide open, because they don't

^ Also less horsepower in Xfinity. With high downforce and high drag. Sorta like IndyCar.

yeah sure got to keep up the momentum but they have to let off in the corners they all have to let up in the corners, more so when the handling goes away on a long run.

That's why the truck race at Michigan is so awesome. The high drag turns it into a slingshot fest
That truck race is the origin of the much-maligned, and thankfully canned (at least for now), so-called "high drag package" for Cup that was raced a few times in 2015. Brian France wanted to create pack racing at intermediate tracks. What a disaster for guys like me, who feel that Nascar races should be contests of driver and team skill above all else.

I'm not a big Carl Edwards fan, but I credit him greatly for his persistent leadership in insisting that Nascar needed to "put the race back in the hands of the drivers." And I also credit Nascar for caving in and doing just that. Bravo Carl!

the high drag package was supposed to make passing easier by knocking a big hole in the air. The trailing car was supposed to be able to get a run behind this big hole and slingshot around to the lead..like a big ol shake n bake move. Instead it almost fried the drivers and was a snooze fest. I think they went the other way with lower downforce now.

probably looked great on paper..I remember they ignored what the drivers were telling them at the time and forged ahead. They had some old hands telling them that too Kenseth was one of them.

THIS IS WHAT MAKES KANSAS SPECIAL ! ! ! ALL HAIL !!!!! :):):)

I grew up around there. Attended races there during its first several years. The track is probably better since the repave / reconfig. The only thing that I consider special about it is that Lakeside Speedway is five minutes away.

The reason the drivers don't like it is the track has insane grip and once the car loses grip there is little warning and they crash. Ask Kyle Busch he crashed there like every year to me it and New Hampshire are the worst tracks they race at. I was disappointed they moved it to 2 race dates.

Sound like an Indy / IRP relationship.

About all they will be asking Kyle is, oh Kyle you won this race last year, do ya think you can win it again..do ya huh?,

I went last fall for the race. I actually thought the progressive banking and racing is better than LVMS which also recently redid it's track pretty similarly. Don't know if I would go back though maybe I didn't check out Kansas City enough.

'N watchin' ta see if Patrick can duplicate the excitement of her great run of Oct. 6th, '13.
