What Punishment will Sliced Bread and the Kez get?

I don't think anyone 'knows' it's illegal , so why would they tell anyone that it is ? If the shock specialist builds a better shock that he feels is taking advantage of some grey area , would he announce to the team , "heh,I'm putting in an illegal shock !" I don't think that he would consider it illegal. Gibbs didn't 'know' their part was illegal or they wouldn't have done it . Penske had no way of knowing . So the answer is no , the driver never knows .

I think Penske knew what was going on.

In Penske’s defense, he insists his teams weren’t cheating, just working in the gray areas of the NASCAR rule book. It should be clear on Wednesday whether the panel agrees with Penske or NASCAR’s interpretation of the rules.
Regardless, with this latest offense, Penske takes full responsibility for the situation.
I was fully aware of anything that goes on with the team,” Penske said. “I would have to say the buck stops with me. I’ll take whatever punishment or whatever the outcome is and move on.”

Unless the crew chief comes on the radio and tells you to wipe the deck lid out during the celebratory burnout :D

Well yeah , maybe after the fact . :D Even then , was it precautionary ? Just in case it might be considered illegal ,or did Chad know ,for sure?

I'd bet every dollar in my pocket Chad knew for sure.

Maybe , but the question ,I think , was driver . The only one I can think of offhand , that the driver may have known , was when Sterling Marlin started tugging on his front fender during a red flag at Daytona . He had that ,"who me ? " grin on his face.

I would think it depends on how involved the driver is in the way the car is built. I'm sure the crew chief would ell the driver they're working on something new to try to get an advantage or something like that. If they're trying to get an advantage in aero to make the car turn better then I would want my driver to know that way he could charge he corner that much harder knowing he doesn't have to worry about it. Although I'm not convinced they knew it was as much of a violation as it turned out to be. It's not like this happened..

Am I the only one that finds it interesting that when a team gets something confiscated, they always have a legal part in the hauler.

Hmmmmm.

I'm sure they have extra parts of almost every part of the car in the hauler. And if not I'm sure they could get their hands on whatever part they need.

Agreed. I just find it strange that they can immediately cough up a legal part and still swear they had no idea the confiscated part was illegal..

Get my drift?

I don't think the #2 team really cared about 25 points, but it could hurt Logano. The big deal aways was losing points and R&D over those 6 weeks. That could have cost 70 or more points in the end.
