It would be hard to do a top ten list of my favorite moments of 2014 - there were a lot. Jr's win at Martinsville was awesome. I actually got to watch it from the coach lot on the back stretch. It's officially my new favorite place to watch a race. If you EVER get a chance to watch from there, drop everything and go for it. It was the most fun I had at a race in 2014, and Jr winning was a great cherry on top.
My FAVORITE moment of 2014 is a pretty loaded question for me, since I got to do the double with Kurt. Obviously that's not only my favorite moment of 2014, it will likely remain in the top 5 of my favorite sports experiences of all-time. I could write 100 pages about it. It's the kind of thing I truly wish every one of you could experience. When it was "go time" I recorded our walk from the Andretti garage to the Indy paddock. I had goose bumps the entire way. I felt the hairs on my arm stand up when we walked under the grandstand onto pit road. I had been sheltered from much of the "event" all morning. But at that moment, walking out onto the track, it hit me like a friggin tidal wave. My legs got wobbly. If you've ever been to the 500, you know what I mean. I don't think anything in sports rivals the pre-race atmosphere. It's electric.
The video I took is a little bitter sweet now because of what's going on between Kurt and Patricia. But still, that walk was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
