What Would Happen If...

This statement is false.

If Harvick finishes anywhere the top 10 (Good finish) and Gordon doesn't win the race but finishes 2nd or 3rd (Likely) he woul dhave gained at least 3 or 4 points on Harvick. (Discounting laps led+most led)

But there are more things at play, not just Harvick. There is Kyle, Jimmie, Matt and Kevin himself.

Too much to ask for. I actually just want Gordon to win me one race.

Going winless sucks.
You know what.... lmao.. I completely forgot about Kyle in all of this.

Clint and Denny are Martinsville threats as well.

I've decided I will root for Gordon the rest of the season. He's the only one in the top 5 I can stand lol. Well, I like Kenseth... but I can't root him on. That would be fundamentally detrimental to everything I stand for. :)

It goes without saying and we all know and understand this but I can't help myself I've got to say it, "You Are One Weird Dood" but so are most race fans. :D

Well I still want Joey to go win every race.. but I mean of who's left, I want Gordon to win the cup. JJ, Kyle Busch, and Harvick are my uncle's, my Dad's (replacement for Tony) and another buddy's driver's. We reeeeeally bust each others balls when it comes to NASCAR so if any of them win it it'll be a while before I hear the end of it.. and like I said.. well, I think it's blatantly obvious why I won't root for Kenseth... I'm not much of a Gordon fan.. but I will be for the next 4 races ;)

Didn't realize he was that bad there. I guess the 2011 win was an aberration.

Yeah, it was, but I think he's fired up to do it again. He would like nothing more than to win a championship for Richard before he leaves. I think he's the one guy who will go for broke the rest of the way.

The way his season has gone, Denny will be lucky to finish on the lead lap.

If they could just give him one "experimental" engine that didnt blow up he would be fine. Makes me wonder what TRD is experimenting with ............ Balsa wood rocker arms or what:D

Jesus kid I know double posting is a forum sin but triple posting?! Just asking to be burned at the stake

The only driver that would shock me with a win at M'ville is the quarter lap girl.
Check out his Charlotte average

You can't always count on stats to determine how well a driver will do at a particular track. Someone said Logano was the best of all active drives at Charlotte because of the average finish stat, yet the last time they raced there Logano was junk in both NW and Cup races. :)

Very true indeed. Jeff's averages haven't meant much for years. ;)

Sorry for busting on Jeff. I won't call him Charlie Bucket anymore either. I promise.

...Jeff Gordon would go on to win the championship without winning a race? Sure, it's a longshot, but he's only 34 points back with 4 races left, so it's still a possibility. Despite what they would say, France and Helton would probably be fuming if this were to happen. We all know their philosophy on the importance of wins.

Considering NASCAR's kneejerk reaction to Kenseth running away with the '03 title with only one win, do you think there would be any changes to the 2014 Chase, such as mandating that a driver has to win at least once to make the Chase, or making wins worth more (say, 5 points instead of 3) at the start of the Chase?

I don't think so, without a win, its a big longshot and Gordon would have to get a few breaks and top fives. It's not like a whole season of one driver getting a top ten every week with no wins.

Clint and Denny are Martinsville threats as well.

The way Denny is running I dont think he can challenge for a win. Clint has been just as irrelevant in this year's chase.

But yeah it could happen.

Really? You know he won Charlotte right? I think my point eluded you because you're arguing with me saying the same thing as me... o_O

Ohh so that's why you're always away when one of those guys win. Too much ball busting from your friends.

You're like this..

His average still mean something there. He's not winning, ok but he's leading hundreds of laps and finishing in the top 5 all the time there.

Matt Kenseth ruined that strategy

Haven't you heard? It all about 'what have you done for me lately' in nascar. lol

Who's arguing?
LMAO Yup.. still though.. I was saying his average at Charlotte is not that good.. and he won there. Which is exactly what you were trying to say... more or less, even though its not that great doesn't mean he'll do bad.. however, when a driver has a great resume for a track... Im more likely to think they'll do good than I would be to think a driver with a poor average would do bad.

Well with what happened to Jeff yesterday at Texas combined with the performances of JJ & the 20 car, I think we can officially put this one to bed...

Still banking on asteroids to land on Matt's & JJ's car on the first lap & for NASCAR to call the race due to freak "day after tomorrow" snow storms as soon as Jeff takes the lead at Phoenix and Homestead.
