What's he thinking?

The Dillon boys are pretty good boys. I have been around them a few times when they've been around the dirt tracks in the area. Austin seems like he will talk to anyone. Ty is a little more quiet and shy. I think both are pretty good drivers, but not great drivers. I don't think it's fair to judge their career just yet. With the success they've had, I don't blame Childress one bit for wanting to help them out. At the same time, he doesn't nee to invest the entire team's future into both of them. He really need to have a 4-car team - two for the Dillons and two for some top drivers.

Lets be fair here, Tony was driving a HMS car with HMS personnel. I give that championship[ to HMS.
Since then Tony has fired and hired who he wants and you have to admit if not for Childers/Harvick, they aren't even noticeable.
The only way Tony can get in the news is by broadcasting his vulgar mouth on the radio. Even Danica, Ragan and Reagan are doing better.

Right now there isn't a fourth driver out there looking for a ride. That could change but for now I think he is better off with 3 teams and watch for someone to replace the 31 in a few years.
The only way JGR would go to 4 cars was because of the driver available to them.

Who was the HMS personel? as in names.

I'm not so sure about that. I would put HMS, JGR, and Penske all surely ahead of them. Then they're probably in that second tier with SHR, EGR, and MWR that could shake up at any time.

no. DALE and RCR were on top back then and rick just kept spending money and what ever else it took bet them. and the rest is history.
