When will Jr return?

My guess he skips The Glen (got the off weekend) and returns for the Bristol night race

After the Chase starts. No pressure to try and win a race to get in, he is just out of the Chase and then all the pressure is off until next year and he can just ride around safely.

Sponsors will demand that Jeff Gordon run the 88.

Eh. Doubt it.

Gordon said he wasn't having fun at Indy when he was getting his doors blown off on restarts. He's doing these two stints out of loyalty to Rick. I doubt he's doing it because he's enjoying it.

In the future though, I'd like to see Gordon run the road courses. Short and quick races and he gets to enjoy himself a little.

Axalta is on the car for WG. They will make their voice heard.

It makes no sense to me that Gordon will *not* run Watkins Glen this year (if Dale is still sitting out) because he's not enjoying it, but *will* run the Glen and/or Sonoma in future years because he enjoys it. If he declines to drive the Glen this year, he'll never run the road courses IMO.

I've been wondering if he might show an interest in IMSA one day. Most of the races are under three hours, and he wouldn't have to drive the entire time.

Another Jr thread.....

Anyhow, it'll happen when and if it happens. Nothing more than uninformed speculation could possibly be posted on here.

I'd venture to guess that Jeff Gordon will remain in the car through the conclusion of the season..... if needed. Of course with the exception of Talladega. We won't see him there.

I'd also venture to guess that we will not see Gordon back behind the wheel of a points paying Cup race after the conclusion of his time in the #88. Barring some sort of yet to be created HoF Waiver, he pushed his HoF induction back by an additional year. I can only imagine that is a day that he and his loyal fans are looking forward to.

Did they finally come out and make an announcement on that? I know Moody said they were discussing it but hadn't decided, that was as of Weds I believe.

I think it might be a little early to start planning the retirement party. Nobody knows except the doctor and the Jr. clan what the injury is going to cause going forward. I don't think that Jr. will just suddenly walk away and leave Rick high and dry unless the doctors and family says that he should. I would hope that Jr. makes the decision based on the facts as they know them to be instead of on emotion. He can still have his team if he wants and even if he walks away completely will have have a woman that he loves and the money to live life like he wants.

Last I saw, they have to be retired for three years. I heard no announcement made on it. I can only guess that if he's running races right now, he's not currently retired from the sport. That being said, I expect to hear of some kind of an announcement from NASCAR of a HoF Waiver of sorts.

The HOF could likely use he shot in the arm that Gordon and Junior fans would give it .

Dale Jr is done as he hopefully values quality of life over driving anti-clockwise. One more good conk on the noggin and people will be wiping drool from his chin for the rest of his life.

I would really enjoy a trip to the HOF but just not have found a reason to be in the Charlotte area and I am not traveling just to see the HOF only.

If I wait too long it will likely be relocated as the last I heard the HOF managers had gone to the banks asking for forgiveness of about 20 million in loans. The HOF was forecast to have 800,000 visitors annually but I believe they are now below 150K and lose about 2 million bucks a year.

They're just under two hours up the road from me, but I can't find a reason to go. I guess I'm just not an HOF kind of guy, regardless of the subject.

Just for comparison, the zoo in Columbia, SC, 90-odd Interstate miles to the south, regularly draws just over a million visitors annually from all aver the southeast, including the Charlotte area. I'm always surprised the NASCAR HOF isn't drawing anywhere near that.

So if Jr retires within the next year JG,Tony,JR, and Harvick will no longer be driving Chevrolet'S within the span of around a year...wow those guys have been the symbol for GM in NASCAR forever.

Isn't Junior really borderline as a Hall of Famer? He's won 26 races, but no championships. His best argument, I guess, would be the Daytona 500 victories. Certainly shouldn't be first ballot, like Jeff and Tony.

Someone just said one more conk on the head and he's in the corner drooling. He needs to quit now and go make babies with Amy.

His own words give me every reason to believe that he plans to return, not retire.

Never, hopefully. He's only there so soak up money, always has been.

I don't believe that he's only been there to soak up money ...... but.... if he was.....

Wouldn't you?

Have you gone through life with a job thinking... ''I just want to work at McDonalds and make minimum wage all my life and never really try to make my life secure''......

Why beat on someone who tried to better himself and capitalize on the situation he was in?

By the way....... I like Jr. and think he wanted to race..... He saw his Daddy ..... what he had accompished and thought he wanted to do the same thing...... Jr. ain't his Daddy and he knows it.... We all know it..... I'm not a Jr.Nation person....... but..... I like the kid for what he is......

And NO........ I was never a Big E fan on Sundays....... I admired him during the week but not on Sundays..... He could drive the wheels off a car but he couldn't be trusted to not wreck you.

I sure miss him.

His own body, that he knows so well, would be wise to listen to and be guided by his neurologist.
