When you mentioned that Scott Speed is Lake Speed's son.. it brings to mind dozens of guys that I haven't heard about for years.I'll bet that there are guys on this forum that can tell me what ever happened to them. Also there are members of the forum who might have new(old) names to add. Here are a few...Harry Gant; Chuck Bown; Chad Little;Dave Marcus;Bill Lester;Greg Sacks;Rick Mast;Butch Miller;Shane Hmiel;Jimmy Means...I could give twenty more names but I would like to hear what happened to some of them.........they aren't all driving pace cars like Brett Bodine are they?

Harry Gant was set to run in a lagends type series last year, but don't know what ever became of it. Shane Hmeil has been running sprints and midgets. He actually made it the B main this year at the Chili Bowl.

Wow Shane is still in racing.Good for him.Always thought he had tremendous potential.

Harry Gant retired to run his Steakhouse and build houses in Taylorsville N.C.
Dave Marcis retired and I think was helping shake down IROC cars.
Shane Hmiel was a dopehead, and has been banned for life from NASCAR.

Shane was a good little race car driver.I felt bad for him,a lot of kids go a little wild and don't get caught.I on the other hand was a saint:p

Scott Speed is no relation to Lake Speed. Lake is from Mississippi, Scott from Cali.

Rick Mast: As of 2007, he currently resides in his hometown of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia. He owns and operates RKM EnviroClean, Inc. (www.RKMenviroclean.com) which specializes in environmental clean-up services, underground utilities contracting, and site demolition. Additionally, Rick also remains actively involved with his charitable organization, the Rick Mast Foundation www.RickMastFoundation.com

Oh,I was wondering why I hadn't seen pictures of Lake in the pits.

Chad Little owns two very succesful John Deere franchises in mid Maine, and was up until 2008 competion director for the Whelen Modified Series.

That's interesting,I always thought he was a west coast guy.A lawyer too?

It is good to see this thread. I often wondered what ever happened to some of these former drivers.

Harry Gant is living in the Taylorsville, NC area, and although claiming to be retired, does some construction work. I heard just recently, Harry closed the steakhouse.

Jimmy Means is living in Forest City, NC, and runs cars in the Nationwide Series. A few of the drivers who drove for him last year are Brad Teague, Kevin Lepage, Kevin Hamlin, Mike Wallace, Donnie Neuenberger and others.

In 2002,when I was doing regional trucking,I happened to stop by the Brunswick Maine location to buy a John Deere hat,and Chad was there.I ended up buying some racing items that were for sale there, and Chad signed every one of them.A very approachable and genuinely nice person. He also said if I bought a new mower,he would throw in a free hat:lol2: I said thanks but no,I was happy with the one Deere I already had.
I don't know if he is a lawyer or not.

I remember him having the John Deere sponsorship on his car too.

Didn't Chuck Bown's wife work for Speed? Does anyone know if they are around?

Bill Weber....a magician: Bill Weber, who was TNT's lead NASCAR race announcer before being suspended before a race in July and not returning, says he's performing as a magician. "It's a passion I hope to turn into a profession," says Weber, who says his TNT contract wasn't renewed. "I hope to continue sports announcing, but this is something I've wanted to do for a long time." Weber, saying he worked some NBC motor sports last year, adds he's "waiting for NBC to get back from Olympics to see what motor sports opportunities they might have."(USA Today)(2-25-2010)

Don't bother looking it up.I did it for you.Bill "Hurricane Hair" Weber

Did you see Jeff Gluck's snark?

His first trick was making his job at TNT disappear.

That right there is funny, I don't care who you are. :XXROFL:
