Which Track or race would be better to go to - Dega or Texas

Most of the crime is away from the tourist destinations in DC. That's in PG County and Northwest. I'd recommend staying in Charles County, MD or out Fergy's way in Northern Virginia.

Thanks. If I decide to visit, I'll give you a shout for some tips.

Richmond is my favorite track to go to 100%. Saturday night racin' is the right racin'!

I was under the impression that most of the crime was in the area of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

It's a joke don't get upset :)

Things to do in Dallas/Ft. Worth ----- Billy Bob's, Sundance Square, Great Wolf Lodge, Gaylord Texan
mike honcho and majestyx live closer and can probably help. Drop them a message.
*ahem*

But I can't add much more to that list. There are things to do, depends on what interests you and how long you'll be here? Can always come see where the UFO landed here in Arlington (you'll be flying in here anyways, right?), do the whole Ft Worth Stockyards thing.

We'll be in Denton on the weekend of the race, doing a big money race (providing it isn't cancelled due to conflict). Just noticed cup is on saturday this year.

Traffic wise, TMS has it down pat. The longest it's ever taken to get off-site was 30 minutes. Or you can hang around with Majestyx in the campground for a few extra hours like I did one year. or so on/so forth.

feel free to poke around my photo gallleries from years past- http://magnethead794.com/coppermine/index.php?cat=12

Sweet Jesus! The guy asked if he should go to Talladega OR Texas - those are his options.

All of sudden racing-forums turns into Travelocity

I'll agree with the Richmond comments, If I could only go to One race and Richmond was on the availible list I'd go there every damn time!

Normally, there is Dirt Racing scheduled on the TMS Dirt Track during NA$$CAR weekends. But not this year for some reason...

All that plus Texas Rangers baseball,Cowboy Stadium right next door usually has something going on,I think Six Flags Amusement Park should be open by then.Check the American Airlines Center website to see what they have going on there. The Dallas Mavericks play Basketball there but they have concerts and other stuff also.Another lake that is close is Joe Pool Lake also.Great wolf Lodge has an indoor waterpark.Grapevine Mills is a pretty big Mall that is close also.

bumped it for Leroy

This is great feedback and thanks heaps.

There are many tracks on my list that I want to see, we always have to plan around 'other' things to make the most of trips and its proberly leaning towards Texas.

Martinsville, Bristol and Darlington are high on the list and will have to wait till next time. If ever I get enough coin together (lottery win) I want to follow a season, every race, every track...... cant see that happening so I work away at track by track at this stage.

Another question and you dont have to answer if you dont want to, what things are a 'must do' when around texas (Dallas) area. We have been to San Antonio before and remember the 'Leave you gun in your car' signs at the Applebees door...... this is just stuff that we dont have in Australia.

Cheers mates.

Bumped it for the cranky old men who go on and on and on......

Wow you guys are making me feel welcome.... this is just like sitting arround with some mate havin' a beer or two.

Anyway, everything that you have said is of great assistance and we have basicly worked out a plan. Firstly I have now placed Richmond on my 'next track to visit list' however it wont be this trip. Its our short timeframes and trying to squeese many other things in as well.

In the past we have been to DC and saw nearly every monument, meseum and also a small shootout so we have had our history lesson and guns experience, again something that we dont really get where I am from.

You all live in a awesome country, and in our opinion are the best people in the world. We now have many USA friends (which we now call family) from our past visits and I am sure there will be more.

I wont bore you with details on how much we love the US...... to the point if we could move there we would. During our visits we have been to about 40 of your states, got married in Vegas (a real one as we had 20 friends and family come over from Australia), seen baseball, hockey, tailgated at the BSC final, done Rt66, were part of the 2009 Superbowl halftime show crowd (couldnt afford a ticket to the game). There are many other things as well.

The comments in this topic is what I was after, suggestions, alternatives, options, banter and everything in between..... so keep going as I enjoy it.

So....... its Texas that we are going to.... it just works better this time with flights from Australia (remember we are on the other side of the world and dont have 24 hour supermarkets...... or a mass availability of flight options).

Y'all (see... I can talk southern) have provided some ideas in and around Texas, cant say that I am much of a fisherman, as we only get sharks here... they eat all the fish already so there is nothing to catch. Great wolf looks awesome, next trip we will be bringing our daughter (she just turned 1) so she will be old enough to enjoy the waterpark and many other things.

Hope that this was not to boring to read..... but it was an excuse so you could know a little more about me and what were doing.

Cheers mates.

Technicaly I beleive YALL are Southerner than US. Hope you have a good trip and enjoy your visit. Not all us American's are the AssHoles most of the world veiw us to be. Not to say some of us are'nt ;)

Enjoy your trip dude, err...mate.

And don't let the low-T crowd bother you. They just get cranky from time to time.

Also , you probably already know , that Austin, Texas , has become the 'music capital of the world' IMO

Also if you want casinos. They are about a hour and a half north of Dallas in Oklahoma.WinStar Casinos.

LeRoy, it's great to hear from you! There are a couple of other Aussies on here too. I think that's way cool!

Now, while your name might be pronounced L'Roy in your home country, in America - especially south of the Mason-Dixon line, you will be known as LeeRoy with the accent on Lee.

BTW, it's quite possible that you have seen more of America than I have!! But, I have been to Australia (once)...

Good on ya, Mate!!
