Thinking of making a poll about this, but first I wanted to get ideas about drivers.

What driver do you guys think is the worst on the circuit?

Steven Wallace, Brenden Gaughn (sp). The Cope Twins. Among the drivers with a win: Elliott Sadler.
Past champions in their 50s who dont know how to quit or refuse the easy money. I respect them enough not to call them out as a worse driver, truly in their day they were most worthy. But they are long past their prime and a disservice to their own legacies.

The unavoidable Danica question: She is mid tier not the worst or best. She has the ability to make her worst critics look foolish and it could happen.
I suspect a (mis)-fortunate situation is in play; The ability to generate sponsorship is a talent or gift that has provided with her greatest opportunities. It is her propeller and demands her to fly high. How can that not be a postive?

It has a Logano fault that has prematurely pushed her into cup without full preparation. She would have benefited more with a another year of nationwide racing first imo. But again she isnt the worst.

Oh here we go.... I say Danica is probably the "worst" of the professional race car drivers that if any of them were picked at random would whoop any of us in any race... o_O

I hear Mike Helton is all over the road and never finds the right exit, so I'll go with him.

How do you judge "worst" ? All drivers have some talent or they wouldn't be in the top echelons of racing.

There are 2 or 3 that I can think of that are racing because Daddy bought them a team ---- JW Townley, Paul Menard, and Tony George Jr. I don't know that these 3 will ever set the world on fire --- unless they hit something and it starts burning.

And, yes, I know DaleJr sort of fits in that category, but he has at least shown some promise. :D

Exactly. You can't drive a car at 200mph into a corner without being a good driver. Period.

Jimmie, the whiner Johnson :) His ability to squeal like a pig has litterally infected the whole Hendricks group. Disgusts me.

You mean 2x Daytona 500 Champion Michael Waltrip? o_O

broken links for me. :(

In the Cup Series? At this point in time, I think Schrader. He is usually well off the pace and picks up spots only when other drivers DNF. He used to be pretty good though.

Yeah this really an unfair question. Like others have said, if you make it to cup, its not by mistake. Every driver does have talent to a certain degree. Also, its not like its an even playing field either. The rare occasions that Michael McDowell has been in good equipment he has done decent, but the only full time rides he gets are start and parks. If we are going by pure racing ability, I think its nearly impossible to judge that based on the gap of top equipment (500+ employee Hendrick) and underfunded bottom tier equipment (Front Row Motorsports with less than 20).

This thread's ridiculous..... Buuuuut Kevin Conway, period.

*I know he no longer has a ride but he takes the cake.

without giving it a whole lotta thought I'll just say that he's whatever butt-headed driver that most recently wrecked or even slowed down . . . . . . my favorite driver

damn, that guy sucks when it comes to driving a race car . . .

townley's gotta win that award lately.....after saturday. smoke 'em "after" he's in wall ?

add brian scott ta tha daddy group too---albertson's.

I like how further up there Jimmie Johnson was mentioned a few times.

If I am not mistaken the thread I assume this thread is supposed to be about driving ability, not just a thread to bash drivers you don't like!

Jimmie Johnson.
You guys go suck a lemon.
Anyways, Schrader used to be decent but now sucks, Conway is bad but not THAT bad, ditto with McDowell (when he gets in decent equitment he normally gets somewhere in the 20s), Danica is pretty bad most of the time, and Michael Waltrip is decent of restrictor plates but pitiful everywhere else. And Landon Cassil are both very underrated in my opinion (especially Kvapil).

I'm gonna go with Steven Wallace just based on what I've seen of him. He wrecked damn near every weekend seemed like, probably the reason Rusty closed his operation. Now a lot of people say Mike Waltrip or Kyle Petty whatever but when those guys had a combination of good equipment & people, they were able to win a few races despite the fact that it took a while. Steven Wallace to me though has shown nothing giving any indication that he would ever be worth a damn...

I thought it was all about people's feelings getting hurt with a side of sarcasm and a heaping of passive-aggressiveness. Every driver has fans and I doubt any of them want to read that their driver is the worst.

So unless someone has some method of proving who is the worst Nascar driver, I see no reason to take it seriously.

Mike Bliss has 0 wins, 1 top five and 7 top tens after 152 races. He has made 11 million running in cup since his first race.

Terrible, just terrible.

I would trade places with him in a minute.

I remember hearing reports of Jeff Gordon giving him a black eye at the airport following a Chicagoland race after Bliss wrecked him.

That's funny. I thought that I heard Jeff Gordon bought him a Rum Mai Tai at the airport bar following their race at Chicagoland. I guess listening isn't my strong suit. ;)
