Who is Penske's #1 Cup Driver?

ONE average season and you think Joey is better than a Championship driver? Holy crap. Why dont you try comparing his stats to the man who took over his ride in 2013 and DOMINATED?
Average? 3rd most top 5's.. 4th most top 10's... makes the chase , and improves on almost every stat he's had.... that's a little above average if you ask..... anyone. Yeah yeah points bla bla a couple small changes to this season and he's top 5 hands down. And yeah yeah bla bla you cant change anything I know... but that doesn't change the fact that they've performed as well or better than most.

This year: Logano
Overall: Keselowski

I do not consider Logano better than Keselowski overall. Too difficult to argue against a championship, and Kez has accomplished more.

I may reconsider if Logano has another good season compared to Kez next year.

Fine I'll do it for you. Since you only like doing 2013 stats here ya go

Matt Kenseth 2013
wins 7
Avg finish 12.73
laps lead 1,401

Joey Logano 2013
1 win
avg finish 14.67
laps lead 282

Yup. Took over his ride an absolutely killed Logano's memory at JGR

Yup... theyre both having career seasons... Im glad Joey memory is gone from JGR now he's driving like he should.

Brad overall, Joey this season. Dont count on it staying that way...

Matt Kenseth proved this year that the 20 is still a championship contending ride. Funny how he and Tony did so well in it, while Logano couldn't even get it in the top 15. I'm not saying Logano is a bad driver, but he still isn't close to Keselowski or any of the elite drivers in the sport. He's still young and improving, I'll give him that.

How is Joey not the #1 at Penske this season? Unless...
Because of course if you did... you would be proven wrong.

You asked people for their opinions, then want to prove everyone wrong that doesn't pick Logano? lol

From what I've seen from both before and after they started racing for Penske, I'd say Brad is Penske's best.

If, if, if...we'll talk more when that becomes did, did, did, but for right now, I'm busy watching the #20 win a championship :)

Im only looking at this year... cant ask whos #1 at Penske and include Joey stats from Gibbs...

Then your whole thread falls apart.

You cant conviniently just look at this year when Joey just happens to be having his best run of his career.

As of this date, Brad its the man there.

Also @dpkimmel2001 where did you get that stat from?

77 Wins a piece? I'm confused...as always. lol

154 head to head matchups each beating each other 77 times.

Stats from racing-reference.

Of course SlicedBread doesn't want to used Joey Logano's career stats to compare him to other drivers. That is because the stats aren't favorable.

I think right now they are giving Logano better cars because he's in the Chase.

Do you think it doesn't happen in an attempt to win the Cup or that they don't use non-chase teams for R&D?

I've seen Terry Labonte go on the track for NO other reason than to scuff tires for the other HMS teams.

Come on.
So...how do they know which chassis is going to be faster ? Or ..do they swich them after qualifying ? No ...that wouldn't work because the faster qualifying car is not always faster on long runs ....Maybe the one with better gas mileage , in case it turned out to be a fuel mileage race ? ...A fortune teller would work ...

They know a lot about the cars from previous races.

I don't think that the reigning champ all of sudden forgot how to drive and his teammate found some magic potion in the affluent neighborhoods of Middletown, Conn.

What organization wouldn't shift their focus to the team(s) they have in the chase? Isn't that what they're all out there for - the top prize?

So , last week when Brad outqualified Joey , that was a mistake ? We won't see that again ?

Hamlin said it happens in an interview he gave recently. You make some good points, but when it comes down to it, who should we believe... someone that actually races in the Cup series or someone that belongs to a nascar message board?

Brad's the guy with a Cup title, a NNS title, the big contract, driving the flagship car, with the flagship sponsor on it. This isin't even a question. Did Joey have a better year? Absolutely he did, it doesn't mean he's the top dog though.

Drivers are human . They blame everybody (including their mothers) when they are losing. They have tempers that are bigger than their brains . It can't happen.

Think about this . Two years ago when Tony beat all of the Hendrick cars and won the championhip , he was buying his cars and engines from Hendrick. This year when Kurt Busch is running top ten every week , he is buying his cars and engines from RCR.
