Who Is The 2019 Champion?

I'm not suggesting that Truex is on another level of his own away from KyBu and Harv, but to speak like he's just a middling driver who lucked into a bomb ass ride and the most glorious crew chief ever is a very worn rhetoric imo. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is exactly like how people tried to discredit your man Jimmie by saying the success he earned was actually all because of Chad Knaus, and I do not believe that is the case.

Hamlin or Harv. If Truex wins title #2 before Harv or KB, then we got a problem..least talented of the final 4 should not be the first multi time champion since JJ. What an insult that would be to Harvick and Busch who have been strong and competitive in other cars and other cc's. ;)

I am starting to think that Truex is equal in talent and ability and finally in his career he has the team that can give him the car and strategy to get the job done. After all, take away Chad and what has JJ been able to do?.

This format is designed for different winners every year and Denny seems destined to continue that trend. This era will end with 10 guys with 1 title lol

I really think we could see something similar to 2016 where the guy that's least talked about comes out and has a very strong run like Edwards did. And that guy is Harvick.
That was kind of the case last year too. Joey Logano had by far the weakest season of the four that were going for the title last year, and everyone was talking about “the big three”. But he walked away from Homestead with the championship.

hammys engine for @Revman

amazing at how simple it looks....

I want Truex to win Homestead, but to me, Harvick is the one to beat at Homestead.

I really feel it will be the all but perfect pit crew and pit stops, that determine the winner this year at Homestead. The (4) teams in the final are all top notch crews.

As far as @DanicaFreak stating a driver deserves it, I hole heartedly disagree with this statement.
You earn it or not, there is no deserve in racing. JMHO ;)

Well we all know that Nascar gives the final 4 special "inspection" of their cars.
So it is WWE Smack down time.
So which ever driver/ team makes the most compelling story and get headlines for Nascar gets the title.
My guess is Hamlin. FedEx has paid the dues and has been a long term sponsor. And the big one that will get the most publication is a Joe Gibbs winning a title and being a super bowl winning coach. Plus the feel good story of JD GIBBS. Denny is JD's hand picked driver plus the number 11 was his football number.
When the car wins the title all the Hallmark monents can happen. We all know the script already.

Au contraire. You talk like Truex has no ability whatsoever when there is plenty of evidence suggesting otherwise. He's beaten Kyle Busch straight up in two championship battles, and wins most of the races in which he dominates unlike Harvick.
Do I think Truex is a good driver? Yes. Do I think he's a step below the other champions of this decade? Yes. Everything else is just a bit of fun

I respect your opinion, but we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one, because I can't get over the irony of a Jimmie Johnson fan who has put up with hearing that his driver was not a key ingredient behind all the success stemming from his career saying that another driver attaining potentially the same level of success is not a key ingredient behind all of the wins he is earning. It's quite literally the same scenario, except this guy happens to be from the east coast and not the west, lol.

While I'm so busy countering your thoughts on MTJ though, I think I might as well point out something I have always enjoyed about your posts, @jaqua19, in particular. Seeing your threads that provide an in-depth analysis of the drivers and their core traits and weaknesses is always a treat to me. I like to know the strengths and weaknesses of each driver in order to have a better understanding of where they're more likely to win or run in the back. Not only that, but your thought-provoking posts on who really is the GOAT of this era are among my favorites on this board.

I don't mind his posts pertaining to other drivers but it's pretty clear he's an Edwards fan that seems a bit mad that Truex is running well.

Speaking of JJ,

That is sort of why I'd rather see Truex or Hamlin take the trophy.

Meh. Don't really like any of the four. I guess Harvick would be my choice, but I care very little about the "championship" nowadays.

I'm not a Truex fan but really think you are massively understating his achievements. Truex has been dominant for several years now. He did it with low down force and does it with high down force. He has more wins than anyone in what 4 or 5 years now? Sorry but it's crazy talk to say he is a step below other champions. The truth is all the other champions are a step behind Truex trying to catch up.

They're a step behind JGR and the JGR cars that aren't the 19 are behind Cole Pearn

all the money in the world will not buy a win,its all about people.

Don’t matter who wins
I don’t want to hear after the race XX deserved this one had the best car or some other excuse
I want to see a finish like Davey had at the first Allstar night race (no one hurt of course)
I want to hear from driver X....
before race....I’m gonna do what ever I can to win this
After race.......how about that, I wrecked all three of them
Interviewer ...don’t you feel bad wrecking XXX
No

It's not, Johnson did it in 3 different generations of cars, in multiple points systems, for over a decade. We can agree to disagree. I just can't ignore getting out performed by Bowyer, and being 20th in the points the year prior to Pearn. Truex is a cool guy, but I just don't see the talent. If he continues to dominate in the Gen 7, sure, I'll open up to it. It's the same frustration I have towards the media's push for KB's greatness. I love Kyle. I'm coming around on this.

And I will on this too. Just give it some time and know that it genuinely isn't personal. Appreciate your post, and I'm happy to have those discussions via PM.

I don't want to derail this any further. I'm beating a dead horse and don't want to upset anyone. Whomever wins the title this year, my compassionate side will be happy for him..regardless of what word vomit I vent here.

You bring up Bowyer at MWR but Truex and team had a lot of good cars in 2012 & 2013 but hardly sealed the deal. 2014 is the only season where the doubters can make a good claim. DEI and MWR were so up and down as race teams I'm not sure on those years.

I'm going with Pearn or Childers over Gabehart & Adam Steven's when it comes to this 550 package when it really counts.

I would agree, but Pearn is the great equalizer, and MTJ will race with Pearn. I would also be weary of a Pearn who has been rubbing on the best car for the longest. This should be a great concern to the other three.
