Why has Nascar stopped road racing in the rain

Racing in the wet is more about keeping the car on the road than passing. If you want to watch cars racing in slippery situations there is ice racing (where rubb'in is unavoidable).

So what you are telling me is that the drivers fear the rain and don't have the skills to do it. Come on now, we all know that isn't true. Yes its about keeping the car on the road, that's what road courses are all about. In the rain it's about who has the nerve and skill to out perform their competitors. You know, kind of like dirt track racing. (I think they should have dirt road courses, but that's another discussion.) Rain reduces the equipment advantage of high dollar teams, because horsepower and aero packages are minimized, and it's all in the hands of the driver. Sure the speeds are slower, but if the fastest speeds make the best racing, why is Daytona and Talladega usually so boring? You can deny this if you wish, but it is true.

OK, so we don't agree on this one. You have given me something else to think about, but that's another discussion that should have it's own thread.

Where's this from? Thats Kyle isn't it?

And here I was thinking about the entertainment value. We've seen Nationwide do it recently and it wasn't that good of a show. The novelty of it all wore off rapidly and we were left with a subpar race. For me personally, I don't care at all how well these guys/gal can navigate a wet surface. I already know they're skillful. I watch them each week.

The most talented can compete in any condition. With bad weather equipment doesn't matter as much and the top drivers will rise to the top
