will # 24 points race next 2 races ? or go for win ?

Jeff will go for the win and so will all the other drivers . If the car doesn't have the speed to win than he will fight for every position that he can get ,as will all the other drivers . It's racing , it's what race car drivers do . Hopefully , the chase drivers don't win any of the final races , I'd like to see some new winners.
I would like to see Tony come on strong to end the season on an upswing.

No doubt in my mind they will go to each race, no matter what, to WIN!

Man, he sure had a hotrod in Martinsville Sunday.

Gordon will continue to lay back when he doesn't have a dominate car..

Just to be clear.. ..Is 'laying back when you don't have a dominant car ' and ' not wrecking your car by overdriving it when you cannot win' ... pretty much the same thing ?

:cool::cool::cool:
Wish hell, hide and watch. how many races you watched anyway? 1.5 miler, going to have at least 6,8 restarts, at least one or two are going to get damaged in a restart. Gordo is just as liable as anybody else to get hair lipped. Ask Harvick, and Kez and Kenseth from last week. Gordon missed one or two close ones that happened in front of him. Like I said, they all will be just fine until a back marker knocks down a fender youngster. Just don't be surprised and get all hysterical if and when it happens.

If you know so much about what's going to happen, how come you completely suck in dp's chase race game?

Gordon will get the best finish he can get.
He's too smart to push his car beyond it's limitation.
If you want to spin that as points racing, go for it.

One instance that I recall , help me with names and dates , I believe it was Carl Edwards , had a car that could have finished top three , but wasn't as good as the leader . He way overdrove the final turn in an attempt to go for the win and wrecked . Afterwords , he said something to the effect of 'I knew it wouldn't stick, but I tried it anyway.'

yeah I remember that one, looked like a video game pass, he flew by the 48 and bounced off the wall.

It's gonna' be fun when Gordon spins his car going for the win at Homestead. :D

"You still have to be consistent," Gordon said. "Points can still get you through. Your goal is to either win the race or be the highest in points. I think that gets you through no matter what.

"I will say that it makes me feel a little bit better about finishing second today, that it was second to somebody that's not in the Chase. Had that been somebody in the Chase, it would have been hard to swallow."
Gordon would much rather spread the wealth around if he isn't able to collect a win in the final three races. As long as he's accruing better finishes than his title rivals.

Teammate Earnhardt giddily collected his first grandfather clock trophy for winning at Martinsville on Sunday, and Gordon seems amenable to more non-Chaser celebrations from here out. Any race not won by a title-eligible is an opportunity lost by the rest of the field and a benefit toward Gordon's winning a fifth championship by virtue of his impressive pile of points.

"The good news is that a Chase driver did not win the race today," he said. "Finishing second isn't as big of a deal today; it's actually really a good finish and good points day compared to if a Chase driver would have won."

You left out the part where Jeff said he would have absolutely moved Jr out of his way if he were able to get to him.

Don't confuse Jeff having an excellent attitude regarding his finish with having less of a desire to win any race he can.

Well said . Any driver would "move the car in front for the win" ...."if he were able to get to him".... A big "if " that some folks want to overlook.

They go for wins every single race. That won't ever change.

They had a great shot at winning until that late caution came out and they had to restart at the rear of the field.

really, looks like to me he ran in the back of the pack and left his other team mates in the lurch.

you did your best with what you had to work with. He stayed in the rear out of trouble.
