I think he should go full-time in the CTS, just like Hamilton is doing.

With the BAM team....I seriously doubt it.

Schrader still has the talent, for me that is unquestioned. Somedays I wonder just how much looking in Dale's car two years ago affected him, more than he will ever let on to anyone is my guess. He showed some competitive signs at Daytona...maybe he is ready once again to push hard enough, unfortunately he just doesn't have the horse to ride right now.

I think that he can win maybe 1 race this year but that is cutting it close.

Nope. Stick a fork in him, he's done. He's as likeable a guy as there ever will be, and no one could ever question his heart. But his days of serious contending have been over for a while now, and BAM ain't gonna turn that around no time soon.

Yep NCTS would be a good place for Kenny to go and develop a program there for younger drivers. He is a great driver , but sadly i think his days are numbered in Cup.

Anything can happen!!!
I think BAm is going to improve alot this year and he might win a race in 2004 with them if he is still with BAM. He said he would like to be with BAM next year. If he does win this year it will be at Dega or Daytona. He always does very good at those races!!

i relly belive bamdamnwham can win. if they have the right driver, crew chif and set up. i would say dont count him out any time soon.

i mean ppl was saying mikey would never win, and same goes for more drivers.

i bet when jeff came out a lot of ppl said "he will never win" yes i know kenny has been raceing for a long time but i would not count him out yet, and he will win one more for his buddy Dale.

Yeh ok when Jeffy came out he wasn't going to win......that is like saying when Ken Griffey jr. came up he wasn't going to hit a home run.......

Wasn't too very long ago that I recall many, many folks talking about how some old feller named Bill Elliott was done, had lost the touch, should retire, would never win again, yada yada yada.

Couple more years like last and someone will undoubtedly say the same thing about Rusty. I can find several quotes saying the same thing about Terry Labonte now.

But I can't say that I think Ken will win with BAM, just don't see the team improving that much. They may have some surprising runs.

I agree ...i'm a long time Elliot fan from 1982 and there was a time i had my doubts that he would win again, but with Schraders' situation the only place i see him possibly getting a win is on a short track. I just don't see it happening on a super speedway.

I too remember that HS. One major difference though. Ken Schrader ain't no Bill Elliott. BAM ain't Ray Evernahm either. (OK, that's two differences...)

Anything can happen in Nascar. But in the Bam car he would just be lucky.

Nope TWF, BAM certainly is not Evernham, neither was the Elliott racing team of the 90's. It is somewhat doubtful that the 36 team, the 4 team, or many of the others that Ken has driven for were equal to Evernham's Dodges, not the Junior Johnson teams and most certainly not the Melling Ford's that Bill drove.

To strike off on a tangent here, I am beginning to wonder if involvement in multiple series and disciplines of racing on a semi-regular basis is detrimental to modern day WC racing. This is a thought I have to work on a bit, as last season i would have not considered it a valid point. But now as I consider the WC champions of the past 10 years or so, and also think about Joe Gibbs insistence that Tony devote full attention to his Winston Cup effort last season, it begins to at least make the appearance of being a valid argument. At the moment I have developed any theory as to why this might have become the case. I have to do some pondering and looking at past WC champions as well, I might after some deliberation decide that this has always been true. Up until the so0called "modern era" of NASCAR the drivers really had no time for other disciplines or series, so only the modern era champions need be examined. Just thinking in print here.

I don't think Ken will win in the BAM car. They have made progress, but they have a long way to go. I agree with HS. Cup demands a lot of focus and concentration. Dabbling in other forms of racing takes away from that. I think Ken should consentrate on making BAM as good as they can get.

The truck idea is also a good one. Hamilton seems to be doing OK. MAybe Ken can turn his luck around there.

Don't forget how D.W. was washed up. Even though he never won, when he drove for DEI in the 1 car during the '98 season(i think) he almost won at both Pocono races.

If Ken could get in a good car and a good crewchief, anythings possible. As fas as this years concerned, a win is a real stretch, maybe a rainout or a fuel milage race could go his way.

I just don't understand why these drivers continue is a series they shouldn't be in. They have no real chance of winning a race, unless by luck, or even getting top 10's. They should move to a lower series as they start to retire. Same should go with Terry Labonte. :(

Why should they retire?? They have paid their dues and have the freedom to do what they love. The guys you are talking about raced for 10 years before they amassed a decent amount of money to live on. Now the newcomers are earning a million bucks a year for being barely better than mid-packers most season long. Let them enjoy the fruits of their efforts. Heck the Daytona purse for 43rd place was more than Jarrett earned for winning at the Rock so whats wrong with having a great time and keeping your family secure for many years to come?

Kenny will win again, his persistance will pay off someday and he will go back to that track that he built and teach a whole bunch of wide eyed young guys and gals that stick-to-it-ivness pays off. I believe that is his purpose, even from afar he has taught me the value of optimism and persistance.

If they want to win, go to a series they actually will do well in. If it were me and I knew my Cup days were over, instead of trying to hold on till the last minute (Waltrip), I'd go to the busch or truck series. That way I could use my experience and run for the championship. Why do you think Hamilton went to the truck series?
