Granted they don't really have 16 competitive truck teams but how about some sort of chase? With both having established a champion before the final race I'd imagine Nascar isn't happy with that.

Only 13 drivers ran the full truck schedule, among them Norm Benning....so you would have to change the numbers I think and it couldn't be 10 races since thats almost half the schedule. Maybe 4 races and 8 drivers? Those drivers would of been Crafton, Blaney, Wallace, Sauter, Peters, Quiroga, Coulter, Burton.

Nationwide 8 races and 12 drivers. Which would of been Elliott, Smith, Sadler, Scott, Dillion, Bayne, Buescher, Gaughan, Reed, Buescher, Kwasneski, Cassil.

I know they couldn't do 16 teams and 10 races or the win and you're in. They could reset the top 8 in points with 5 races to go.

I agree with that, I'm just saying IF they had a chase.....
I don't think it would increase the racing excitement any. The regular drivers in those series are always on full tilt wide open trying to stand out and prove that they're worthy to move up to the next level. To me if they had a chase it would just be gimmicky and trying to inject drama where none is needed. It would also take away from the already good racing.

It's been 10 years now that the Chase has been introduced.....if they were going to use it in the lower series, they'd have done so by now.
It was several decades before NASCAR decided to alter the points system. If they thought something better was available they'd have changed it long ago... :D

They'd have to get rid of all the Cuppers first. As long as the Cuppers are in Nationwide and Trucks, then any points system they use will be a ****** joke.

Manufactured excitement not needed in any of the three series IMO race em all season and add up the points, the chase dont bring new customers......... you either a race fan or you not

more cuppers welcome

If the Chase were implemented to the Nationwide Series, in 2014

Rules

- Top 9 drivers in points elgible

- Chase starts at Chicagoland, and is 8 races long. It works like the old chase format, with no resets, and drivers given 3 extra points for winning

- In order to make it so that there'd be more winners, Cup drivers wouldn't be allowed to drive in stand-alone events (In bold) as well as the last 8 races of the season.

Honestly NASCAR should give out two wins during the race if cup guys race. Let the cup guy have his win but also give a win to the highest finishing nationwide regular in every race

Let the Cup guys run for points. If not, then kick them out/limit the number of races.

In a way, both the Nationwide and Trucks points are similar to the Chase. They don't truly reflect the season's worth of racing.

There wasn't really a need to not let Truck Series drivers run for points in the Nationwide Series, or Nationwide Series drivers not run for points in the Truck Series.

People should really give up on the whole "kick cup guys out of nationwide/truck" argument. Not gonna happen, and here's why.

Without Kyle Busch, there would be no Kyle Busch Motorsports.
Without Brad Keselowski, there would be know Brad Keselowski Racing.
Without Dale Earnhardt, there would be no Jr. Motorsports.

See where Im going with this?

I would say there needs to be a cap on the number of races a Cup driver could race. But they'd just split them up among their 3-4 Cup drivers and get someone else to run the rest and probably just field 1 or 2 NNS teams.

This is a socialistic way of doing things. Ours is a free market economy in which Nascar apparently participates in. In order for teams to survive and get sponsorship dollars, teams have to promise a certain driver package for certain races. I am not a big fan of having cuppers in any series, but it is better than no series at all and a bunch of backmarkers running junk around the track.

Personally , I love to see the young guys run against the cup guys . It really is the best gauge of how they are progressing. All this hand wringing about the damage it will do to their ego is silly .

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a whopping total of four Nationwide Series starts this year while Brad Keselowski started a whole three Truck Series races.

Right, but without those starts, they wouldnt be able to pull the sponsorships they need to run the teams for the rest of the season.

Why can't kyle put drivers that need a break in those rides? Yeah Kyle has with Erik Jones but how many wins did kyle steal from people that winning a truck race might actually mean something to?

Right, but without those starts, they wouldnt be able to pull the sponsorships they need to run the teams for the rest of the season.
So, if they can get by running that small of a number of starts, so should JGR and Penske.

Its all in whatever contract they have with sponsors. It probably states that Kyle will run "X" amount of races, Brad will run "X" amount of races, etc.
