Will the possibility of RCR switching to Dodge for 2014 make it more likely for Andretti in 2014?

I think the move to Dodge if true makes sense for RCR and Dodge. RCR get's to be the #1 team for a manufacturer and Dodge get's someone to make and possibly sell motors to other teams.
From what I've read, the Reason Andretti didn't start this year in a Dodge was that he didn't want to buy Penske's engine shop and neither did Dodge (too costly). If RCR seals the deal with Dodge, I believe Andretti Motorsports will sign up as the #2 team using RCR engines. FRM & JTG could come over as well as RPM at that point. Giving Dodge as many as 9 cars for 2014.

Some of what I've read here as well as on other sites seem to indicate that RCR has made a decision (Harvick to SHR, EGR switching to Hendrick motors, and Andretti backing out of it's plans for 2013 after a couple of months of seriously trying to make it happen). I believe that Dodge realizes now the mistake of not matching Ford's offer to Penske, and saw a huge boost in sales after winning the cup.

Chrysler Group reported today a 14% gain in sales in November vs. a year ago

I just found these numbers. For the year, Chrysler Group sales totaled 1,651,787 units, up 21 percent compared with sales in 2011.

For the year, Fiat 500 sales (43,772 units) were up a substantial 121 percent compared with sales (19,769 units) during the 10 months that the model was sold in the U.S. in 2011. Fiat 500 sales in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico exceeded 50,000 units in 2012.
For the year, Dodge brand sales (524,989 units) were up 16 percent versus sales (451,040 units) in 2011, the brand's best annual sales since 2007. The Dodge brand's sales volume in 2012 was the largest of any Chrysler Group brand. The Journey, Avenger, and Challenger models each set an annual sales record in 2012.
For the year, Ram Truck brand sales (300,928 units) were up 17 percent compared with sales (257,610 units) in 2011. The Ram pickup truck had its best annual sales since 2007.
For the year, Chrysler brand sales (307,967 units) were up 39 percent compared with sales (221,346 units) in 2011. The Chrysler brand recorded its best annual sales since 2008. The 200 sedan set an annual sales record in 2012, while the 300 flagship sedan recorded its best annual sales since 2007. The Town & Country had its best year since 2010.
For the year, Jeep brand sales (474,131 units) in the U.S. were up 13 percent compared with sales (419,349 units) in 2011, the brand's best annual sales since 2007. The Wrangler and Patriot each set an annual sales record in 2012 while the Grand Cherokee recorded its best annual sales since 2005.
Jeep is coming close to becoming their #1 brand.

Man I just want to skip 2013 already. Other than the new car, 2013 just seems like waiting for 2014 to me. Harvick starting new at SHR, Dodge possibly coming back. WOW.

If their sales rise AFTER the announce they are leaving NASCAR don't look for them to come back soon.

I hope the rumors are true about RCR and Dodge. I know prior to winning the cup last year they were holding a grudge from when Toyota came in and basically reverse engineered Bill Davis Dodges to learn how to build motors and bodies for NASCAR racing, NASCAR looked the other way, because they wanted a 4th manufacturer and Dodge was only back in the series for a few years at the time. I believe Dodge showed they can race last year, and with the sales boost since winning the cup, they'd be foolish not to try to come back. It would help RCR as they would go from 3 or 4th in the Chevy pecking order to Dodges #1 team. Hopefully they announce soon, I hate that I don't really have a team to root for right now.

Hang in there MoPar , good days are comin.:D

....I hate that I don't really have a team to root for right now.

If you need a driver to root for until Mopar comes back , Here are five to choose from who don't get much love on this forum. Who knows , a few may even turn up in Mopar rides next year. Juan Montoya ; Bobby Labonte ; Jeff Burton ; Kurt Busch or Paul Menard . Let us know.

As long as they don't drive Toyotas. Not a Roush fan, so i cant pull for a Ford team. List might give me a starting point.

If he's become serious at all. I am a newbie here, but give me some hope I might see my beloved 43 back in its Sunday Best in 2014.

Welcome Robbie ,to the forum. More and more Mopar fans are popping up so you have lots of company here.Don't be a stranger, keep those posts coming.

I'll believe Andretti is in NASCAR when they show up at Daytona for testing.

They'll about have to make the switch at some point if they want to stay in the racing business. If you think NASCAR has problems you should take a look at Indycar's numbers. Outside of the 500 they're not even a blip on the radar.

Thank you, Tony Effen George!

I can't wait for all of the Tears and Jeers when Austin Dillon shows up in a Black Number 3 with a DODGE RAM Logo on the hood instead of a Chevy Bowtie!

I must be the only guy who doesn't have the pharmaceutical knowledge to recognize casually mentioned drug names and their effects. I feel no shame in my ignorance. But at least I recognize Tony George couldn't manage a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.

Unless he was prescribed a heavy dosage of lorazepam.

No big deal. Most - not all - of it is designed to simply get one back on facebook so they can bitch, moan, complain and otherwise rant in hopes that everyone else is as miserable as they are in their mundane lives. Misery LOVES company.

Maybe one day they'll invent the "Zuckerbergzopan" pill that will tell you get off your fat, lazy ass and go outside once in a while. (and eat your bag of potato chips)

lets hope this clears this up,
god i would hate to see RCR go to anything but a chevy

Dodge not expected back soon: Don't look for NASCAR to add a new manufacturer anytime soon. Vice president of competition Robin Pemberton said during Friday's "Gen 6" test at Charlotte Motor Speedway that he doesn't anticipate another manufacturer joining Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota in the "foreseeable future ... the next year or two." Dodge pulled out of the sport after winning the championship last season with Brad Keselowski and Penske Racing, which moved to Ford in 2013. There has been speculation that Dodge might return in 2014, possibly with a premier team such as Richard Childress Racing that has fallen to third among organizations in the Chevrolet fleet. Pemberton said the governing body periodically gets "cold calls" from potential manufacturers, but none that appear ready to join the sport in the next few years.(ESPN)(1-20-2013)

That is so strange , I heard that interview and didn't get that out of it at all. The question that I heard asked was if any new foreign manufacturers (like maybe Honda) were considering coming into the sport. Robin said no,he gets cold calls from time to time , but when he lays out what Nascar would expect from a manufacturer , they seem to cool off.He said that he knows of no new manufacturer that appear ready to enter in the next few years . Just me , but Dodge just left and we haven't even run a race without them yet.Their body style and engines are already approved . I wouldn't have put them into the 'new' manufacturer catagory at all.

if it's a black
3 Dodge Brad will be in it.

Hate to be the wet blanket as the new guy, but 30+ years of following NASCAR and 13+ on the net I have been able to make some friends and nearly all that I trust their NASCAR info say that there is virtually no chance this happens. Dodge and RCR have talked, but if anything Childress is using Dodge to drive up his Chevy price. I have been told in the last 24 hrs. we won't see Dodge in NASCAR until Sergio Merchionne moves on...

I would be quite surprised if RCR left GM - but stranger things have happened!

I wouldn't be surprised if RC himself started the rumor. But heh, Robbie in VA, speculating on rumors is how we have fun around here. :D

If Dodge goes all in, like Toyota did with JGR, I think we could very well see RCR running Dodge in 2014. Childress may have started talking to Dodge to get Chevy to give them a better deal, but I for one don't see that happening. Chevy has bumped SHR and probably EGR (now that they're running Hendricks motors) ahead of them. They are getting as good as they will get from Chevy, Dodge could put them in the same position as Hendricks is for Chevy and Roush is for Ford, and make anyone who runs in a Dodge, give RCR a piece, as they would be leasing RCR motors.

Ok. Here's my formula. With 2 Dillions in cowboy hats, being in Dodge makes more sense than ever.

If one of his grandkids were named Matt, it would be perfect.

I'm particularly proud of this one. I sure hope folks around here watch TV land.
