On a late restart they will. There, I said it.

I'm sure every CC noticed the speed Kyle Busch had on that last restart, and his car was bent up. He got a great restart and made his way up to Tony, who had lost his partner. Kyle got right to him, and was able to push Tony right through the corner. With the smaller spoiler, the new tires and extra grip surely helped quit a bit.

If the 500 field gets thinned out (highly likely) and there is a late flag (very probable), I expect to see a few tandems from 8th back come in for 4 tires. 2 laps is plenty of time to get to the front if you have the stability to push through the turns. Having pit stalls close to each other may be part of this strategy if a whole bunch come in. The guys at the front could be sitting ducks.

Tires won't matter as much as position on the track, IMO.

Tires have to matter. Tony and Kyle drove right past everybody else, right? They made the other cars look slow. Maybe it's the high groove. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I'll bet you a new avitar. We on?

LOL Before I say yes...

How will we determine who wins the bet? And - Will I get to select YOUR new avitar if I win??
(I am thinking Hello Kitty or Unicorns for you.)
And - How long must the new avitar remain? One week? One month?
These are all things I need to know.

BTW, I love my current avitar! Thanks!! :)

On that last pit stop in the Shootout did all 10 cars on the lead lap take tires?

I vote for the Hello Kitty with a Unicorn horn. Can we photoshop that one?

Or better yet, if FB wins Robby gets a 22 tattoo on his ass, and if Robby wins, FB gets a tattoo of something else, like a pic of peewee hermann.

What are you, a friggin lawyer? ;)

If there is a yellow with less than 10 to go and 1/2 the cars from 6th to 16th hit the pits for tires, even if they take gas too, I win. If not, you win. You never know how things play out, so we agree that the CC's will decide if tires are important in that situation.

Winner gets to pick an avitar of the others driver, and the loser has to use it for a week.

But if a driver who pits for tires loses to a driver who stayed out, how does that play into the equation?

And I like Moe Joe's suggestion of Hello Kitty with a Unicorn Horn.

As for the tattoo idea, not so much. I mean, why spoil a perfect canvas? :D

No. You could run a triple stint on one set of tires and have no problems. The tires are rock hard and the pavement is grippy as hell.

Now thats good intel right there , Thanks Soon.

It doesn't. Like I said, we'll see if enough CC's feel that tires are important and agree that they were. What happens in the race is way too random to tell. Even though Kyle had 4 new, nobody knew that Bowyer would get loose and stall the low line. That's the reason Kyle was able to put those tires to good use.

The only other way I can think of is if we see how many spots guys on new tires gain over the spot they pitted from.

The winner will either be on New Tires or Old Tires - but the Old Tires might only be 5 laps older than the New Tires, so what is the criteria for your wager, FB? I am not gonna bet on a Pig in a Poke...

Tell you what. I will be happy to let you pick an avitar for me to use for one week - regardless of the outcome, if I get to do the same for you! How does THAT sound? :p

I must be typing Greek.

OK, pick my avitar.

Here's what I meant. CC's never bring their driver in for tires on a late caution at Daytona. If they do next Sunday, we'll know that the changes to the spoiler and plate changed things.

Still too subjective. Some will and some won't. AML said it best. The winner will have 4 tires.

I suggest that we save our little wager for something more difinitive later in the season.

OK.

secret message....(This guy is so insecure)

awwwww...

We can still do it if you want, FB. Just spell out the rules in a clear and concise manner and I will accept! I will even let you choose first!

lol It is subjective, and there is no way around it. When's the last time you saw top 10 cars pitting for tires with 10 to go at Daytona?

Not since the introduction of the Restrictor Plate anyway.

There you go. If CC's suddenly change that strategy, we'll know that tires are once again important at Daytona. With the bigger plate, guys are faster than last year. With the smaller spoiler, they seem to be losing it from slight contact in the corners. Maybe the best way to tell is by how many sets of tires teams use on Sunday.

Anyway, forget the bet and whip out that avitar.
