Will tires matter this Sunday?

$10 that tires do not make a difference. We are talking about daytona here, not atlanta. The tires are barely even getting a work out. The only time new tires will matter over old tires is if you flat spot a tire or run through debris.

that's about it.

well, dont forget, were they are n the short spoiler.

Here's what I meant. CC's never bring their driver in for tires on a late caution at Daytona. If they do next Sunday, we'll know that the changes to the spoiler and plate changed things.

Track position is usually too important and I can't see that changing for the first 8 or so positions on a caution with 10 or less laps to go, of course that is just my uneducated guess.;)

That would be a change from the past few years when nobody in the top 20 pitted with 10 to go.

My point still stands. People are putting way too much importance on tires for a high banked, high grip, little wear track, just because they took some downforce away.

....and raised the speed even more by enlarging the plate openings.

Being absolutely correct does not mean that you aren't going to get an argument , Soon.

He needs more than tires to help him.

Agreed. I can't believe that interview he gave. Miscommunication? really? Who pulls up on the high bank like that? He did redeem himself by pinting out that he won here before. :sarcasm:

I hope he realises that it's over.

The winner will either be on New Tires or Old Tires - but the Old Tires might only be 5 laps older than the New Tires, so what is the criteria for your wager, FB? I am not gonna bet on a Pig in a Poke...

Tell you what. I will be happy to let you pick an avitar for me to use for one week - regardless of the outcome, if I get to do the same for you! How does THAT sound? :p

Sounds bad, somebody needs to lose for somebody to win!

Speed is talking to CC's about tires, and they are saying that tires will be more important than in the past. Slugger Labbe predicting teams will use 10 or 11 sets. Sadler talked about getting bad loose in duel when not taking tires. Todd Parrot took 4, and Marcos went from the back to the front quickly with 4 new tires.

Tire strategy is back, and I like it.

I think the only way tires will become important in this race is if one rolls out of the pits and another car comes in contact with it. Other than that, I don't think that they will be much of a story.

Why you still TALKING about tires?Remember anything you say here will not change the race.Let's get back to more productive stuff PLEASE:D

lol OK. I find that if I add 1 tablespoon of sugar to my pizza dough recipe, it rises more and faster. Anybody know why that is?

I think that the tiny sugar crystals turn to a fine gas when they come in contact with heat. Once the gas gets above a certain temperature , it expands ,thereby causing air pockets which cause the crust to rise....no wait ...thats Kool AID...SORRY

lol Too much Kool aid. :D

New tires are better than older tires - unless - like at Daytona - the older tires are basically like new.

This ain't Darlington.

Haha Ted...screw the tires...I'm watching the Weather Channel now.

Let them weather guessers be wrong and let the rain hold off. (fingers crossed)...I want me a Daytona500!

I've only watched the highlight reels, but I think based on the trucks and nwide, the winner will be decided about 1000 feet from the finish line due to an accident in the top 20. Tire's won't matter, dodging that crash will.
