makes me wonder, how many here would like to see a Cup race on dirt and where?

I'm probably bucking the coming trend, but I don't think I'd like watching Cup on dirt. I'm not big on having special cars and different rules for different types of tracks. I also suspect the vehicles are ill-suited to running an entertaining race on dirt surfaces.

Just me.
Me too. Love dirt racing in general, but I've seen a few ARCA dirt races... pretty dreary stuff IMO. The cars are way too heavy, and the tires way too skinny.

I enjoy the trucks at Eldora, but don't like the idea for Cup.

The arca races on dirt are run on flat, mile tracks. That doesn't make for good racing no matter the car. Here in New York we had a mile dirt track in Syracuse that held a 200 lap modified race for years. The racing was dreadful at best. Now that they've moved it to a 5/8 mile slightly banked track in Oswego since the Syracuse mile was removed from the state fairgrounds, it's been a great race the past couple years.

God no, please, no Cup races on dirt

I don't like the idea, the Cup cars have out grown dirt tracks. The teams build super speedway cars, short track cars, and intermediate track cars; I don't think they would want to build a dirt track car. And I don't think there is a dirt track that could accommodate NASCAR.

The logistics would be near-impossible.

First, no dirt track has anything close to the level of facilities needed for a Cup race. There would have to be a purpose-built track to support such an event.

Second, maintaining a quality track surface with 40 cars on-track is impossible. The trucks start 32 at Eldora and the track becomes one-groove before halfway. Also, that's just a 150 lap feature. Cup cars need to be racing at least 2-2.5 hours so you can sell enough TV time commercials. So the race would have to be much longer.

Yes, bad idea

We are doing a hypothetical here. But if NASCAR wanted to do it, it could be done.

Do you hate soccer? If so maybe you could go haunt that board too.
I love racing, just saying before they go trying dirt, they should get asphalt racing fixed first. Pretty logical to fix something first before you go screwing up another thing you don't belong in.

^^ I always enjoy your endorsements of my factual presentations.

You made my point again ...thanks heavy cup cars don't belong on dirt, why go do that? Nascar needs to fix the racing they have now rather than going and screwing up another venture.

So if NASCAR does something different, you dont like it, if they leave it the same, you dont like it. No, you made Auntys point brother

It makes no sense to do this now. The priority should be to fix the cars ,fix the racing, not institute another side show.

Would have to be at Eldora because of banking and facilities. But they could easily host a 250 lap event, no problem. Goodyear has an awesome tire for the trucks, get that on a lighter car and the action would be awesome

The racing is better today then it has been in years. If you cant see that, then sorry about your luck. And BTW, NASCAR has been making changes EVERY year trying to make the racing even more competitive and have done an amazing job doing that and trying to hold down team owner costs at the same time.

I’m gonna have to disagree that NASCAR is doing an amazing job.

Thats fine, but when you are the sanctioning body and you have to listen to ALL opinions and condense it down to whats best for the sport AND keep costs down to maintain sponsor interest and keep your TV partners happy Id say they did an an amazing job. The stages alone were a great addition and gave us energy all the way form the 1st to the last lap.

An amazing job, you must work for Brian France, you schill for him every chance you get on here. You are way off base, actually in left field if you think the racing is better than it has been in years.

The stages suck.
NASCAR continues to lose it’s fan base.

Listen pal, I dont work for France or schill for anyone, I'm my own man with my educated opinions. I'm so on base you cant even comprehend it.

The stages are great. Why a fan wants to quit watching something that makes it better makes no sense other than, they are stuck in their ways and have a closed mind.

Oh really. ..comprehend this: why is it Tracks are getting rid of seats? Why is attendance down, tv ratings down, sponsors leaving the sport?
Veteran Drivers leaving? What's The reason?

Cause the weeding of people like you has begun.

Omg...you live in an alternative Nascar world than the rest that is for sure. Stages are nothing more than fabricated racing, they are a gimmick.

Nothing fabricated about it, pays points to race harder, not to hard to understand.

Qualifying also sucks.
You can make all the excuses you wanna make but less people watch nascar every year. Too many bull****t changes.
The stages are a way to fool (some) people into accepting fake yellow flags.

You make no sense, I'm still here, you weed out your core fan base and you have casual fans. Which means attendance drops even more.
Why are you still here? It sucks right? You are one of those fans who sits in the stands and complains all day annoying the hell out of everyone around you.
