With the news that the KN West series will do a dirt race it

Qualifying also sucks.
You can make all the excuses you wanna make but less people watch nascar every year. Too many bull****t changes.
The stages are a way to fool (some) people into accepting fake yellow flags.
Whats the matter? You cant keep up with change? 1+1=2

I don't like the playoffs, qualifying is complete trash now, I'm indifferent to the stages, and I think the mid 80's to the early 2000's was the best time period in nascar history.......but I think everything Spotter said is correct. The racing right now is better than it's been in a decade at least. As far as improving the cars/racing, they are definitely in the right direction. If you guys aren't giving it a chance, you're missing out.

Just stating facts. The recent changes have not resulted in increased interest in the sport. To the contrary; viewership and interest are diminishing.
You have to have a bigger sample then 1 year with the new stage format. Regardless, NASCARS number still carry weight in the industry and will be around for a long , long time. Even with the market correction its still a major sport.

I have a decade of BS changes to reflect on. None of which increased interest or attendance.

Why are you still here? It sucks right? You are one of those fans who sits in the stands and complains all day annoying the hell out of everyone around you.
No I don't, I'm a fan who cares, not one that's blind to what goes on in front of his face, yet still chooses to sugarcoat the obvious pitfalls of the sport.

Haha it won't be if there isn't anyone in the stands and no big network picks them up after the next contract
What are ya fishin’ for?

He's trolling big time

I’d be up for a dirt track, I thinks it’s more legit than a Roval race. I’m not educated enough on dirt tracks around the country so I’ll leave that up to the professionals on here to debate which one to pick. If we can get a trade off for a dirt track and another short track race for one less race at Kansas and another similar 1.5 miler I’d take that.

So you are advocating building another special car for 1 race just to race on dirt? Nascar is trying to cut costs, wouldn't this do just the opposite?

I never said anything in my original post about cutting costs....I would think the Roval car for Charlotte is going to be a one off car combining road course and oval characteristics. I really have little idea what I’m talking about in regards to car building or set up so I’m not diving into that side of the pool. I will say that the original point of the initial post from Spotter was asking if we wanted a dirt track race and where, I responded in kind.

That looks cool. And kills two birds with one stone: Pacific North West race and dirt track race. Sign me up.

I have always loved dirt short track racing way, way, way more than NASCAR, but I don't particularly think the Cup series should attempt it. If they do, should be fun and interesting for sure. However, I agree that the logistical problems cited above likely preclude it. To do it right they would have to have a significantly different rules package.

^^ I love that place.

Ashes are going down into the clay on the back straight ... not a joke.

The Eldora truck race is fun times for what it is, but it's my general belief that there is a reason dirt late models and modifieds developed into 2300-2600 lb cars. I guess I would rather watch Cup drivers moonlighting in actual dirt cars ala the Prelude.

I haven't been to Skagit for about 10 years. Great facility and fans. Back then I thought it seemed a little tight and narrow for 20 late models, though back then it seemed like all they ran were sprints. Excellent track though. That's a shame about the ashes.

We raced 3000 lb unlimited late models on 10” tires there for several years ... until 1982. Extremely competitive, exciting racing but you’re quite right - 24 cars was lots.

Over time, I found that no matter the rules, they are always the same for everybody and competitors find a way to go fast.
