I have been waiting with bated breath for somebody else on here to mention the ultra-above top secret-France/Chevrolet connection.

And TWF finally did!

Ever since Ford and Mopar showed Generic Motors the door over three decades ago,Nascar/France were determined to do whatever was required to bring the bowtie-brigade 'back' to the forefront[though they were never really there until AFTER the France concessions].

'Rumor'----ok,history--has it that behind closed door meetings were conducted in the seventies between France and the head of Chevrolet racing.France agreed to several things to lure this car-brand back into the stock car world.After all Chevrolet WAS the most popular brand of automobile on the planet.From a marketing standpoint,then, France almost HAD to kiss-bowtie butt.

And he did,of course.

That is when the first modern-era Chevy 'superstars' were created.First with ol' DW....then ol'Senior...then ol' Gordon....now ol' Jr.

Three of those four drivers mentioned have 'won' about 75% of Chevrolet's races in the last thirty years!

The more--uh--conspiratorial theories have France only allowing for ONE Chevy approved Mega-superstar at a time.One Waltrip.One Earnhardt,etc....oh the others could win a few races...be fed a few crumbs...but the 'chosen ones' got all the real help.

Ask Bobby Allison,Nascars first anti-poster boy.Ask about DW and the 'company car'.

And ask Bobby why one of the best----if not the VERY best--Stock car divers of all time,only won ONE WC championship.When Earnhardt,Waltrip and Gordon have how many?14 between them!

For those of you who doubt this.....read the history of this sport....or better yet,find some of the old pioneer's and ask them.Some of them are pretty approachable guys.


Bobby's number was in the phone book here---so was Neil's and Red's.

But try to call Jr. or Gordon. :eek:

Anyway....when Jr. wins today,dont be too surprised.

Man..if Bobby would have only had a cigerette pack sized traction-control device!!

Bull....! Who won the most races last year, who won the Manufacturers Championship......Ford. How many races did Richard petty win throughout his career? Last time i checked more than anyone else in Nascar History, and he never drove a Chevy. The conspiracy theories are out there, I read the book too, and it is a lot of conjecture. Nascar helps out a manufacturer when they are not doing well( giving them more or less spoiler....ect) but to say a deal was made behind closed doors to single out certain drivers.....yeh ok. You would have to prove that with concrete figures and i don't see that coming out. Could it have been that Earnhardt, Waltrip and Jeffy were just good drivers ....great drivers that just happened to drive a chevy? I think that would be the more likely scenario. Ford has done quite well in the last few years winning races, and if memory serves me correctly they have won the most races in the series ever. :rolleyes: :wacko:
 
Every sport has been accused of fixing their outcomes, Nascar is just another one...i suppose Newmans' accident was staged too or Kellers' yesterday? Really when you come down to it we are just watching another form of the WWE....right....LMAO! :lol:

And who is all over the TV and racing magazines? Jr and Gordon.
 
Yeh so.....Gordon is a past champion and Jr is daddys' boy, so naturally they get exposure,but so does Stewart and a lot of the young guns. Nascar will run with their names to gain new fans and to sell the sport. I really don't think that Nascar throws anything " extra " their way, if they did the other drivers would be in an uproar about it. Why don't we hear it from them? Jimmy Spencer is the only guy i can remember saying anything concerning Jr, why hasn't any of the other prominent drivers come out and protested a win or gone to the press? Because there is no substance to it, all rumors and conjecture, if there was really something concrete there, then there would be a huge scandal now in Nascar. When a credible news organization does a piece on the coruption in Nascar and substaniates it with reputable sources and facts then i will take notice and beleive it, until that day comes i say all this is just "talk". B)
 
I know this thread has gotin pretty old, but I wasn't able to get on much at the time.

There have been some major coincidences, not just this year but plenty of times in the past. Did anyone watch inside winston cup on speed. Mikey continued to look in the background at winners circle until the other guys on the shows asked about it. THen look at how much atention they gave jr during the shootout like they knew he was gonna come through the trafic. Then again last year jeff has a big looseing streak and then all of a suden wins on the 24th race.


I don't think Nascar is setup like wwf, but nascar seems to know whats gonna happen most of the time, and uses that to there advantage.

Whats with stewart btw, dont they normally flash the past champions face in the camara all the time usually asking his opinion on just about everything.

Not a big deal but if any of you play the ea nascar games on ps2, they usually have a picture of a past champions on them. This is the first year I noticed they didn't do that and whos face do they have on it ??? JR
 
Surprise surprise. They can't even give Stewart the recognition he deserves.
 
Because he doesn't want it...hello camerman trouble.....reporters getting shoved, Stewart doesn't want it. B)
