Pretty sad that we need to find this out on a forum instead of the tv broadcast. So the infield care center has been clear, all drivers released
I got that from the broadcastPretty sad that we need to find this out on a forum instead of the tv broadcast.
Crap, tore up car. Calm in front of the camera. While I hate jumping on these bandwagon's, I do think you are right.
They really just need a clear rule that we will race back to the line on the last lap.
Not possible. Think about it.They really just need a clear rule that we will race back to the line on the last lap.
No...to be honest i dont even understand the overtime thing
isnt it the same as green white checkers?
And if they dont reach they line, they get as many attempt's as it takes to get past the line.No...
In Overtime, there is only 1 attempt as long as the race stays green until the field crosses the overtime line with 2 to go.
In green white checkers, there were up to 3 attempts at a green finish as long as the caution came out before the field took the white flag.
It's not complicated, but it is dangerous. The new overtime rule exists mainly because of what happens at plate tracks, where multiple late restarts just increase the odds of people getting killed or seriously injured (including fans). Late restarts are dangerous everywhere, but IMO it is recent plate track experiences that convinced Nascar to agree to the new rule, which was proposed by the Drivers Council. Personally, I think it is a good compromise."Overtime" itself is stupid.
The last 10 or so laps of any given race should not have caution laps count. If the caution comes out with 4 to go, clean it up and go green again with 4 still to go. It's not that complicated
I don't blame NASCAR for throwing that caution. When some of the cars didn't roll away, they have to get the safety teams to the drivers. Seconds do count. Bubba Wallace took a hard hit. They can't send the safety team out under green, no matter what lap it is. They gave it a second to see if everyone drove away. If there was a mistake, that was it. They should have thrown it immediately.
