Drivers have been suspended before and received playoff waivers. Chase Elliot, for one.

If there was a time to suspend a driver for behavior and drop the hammer by making them ineligible for the playoffs... this is that time...
All that means is that it will be harder to suspend one. They aren't about to take a chance of losing a sponsor on a team car IMO.
If you don't want to lose sponsors, don't drive like an @$$.
