Xfinity RACE thread --- Martinsville

I don't normally watch the Xfinity races anymore, but I caught the finish of last week's race and saw the highlights of this one. It was nice to see my man Junior out there having a good time. That post-race interview he did with Bob Pockrass was hilarious.

I spoke of hungry kids in NASCAR in another thread last week. It's pretty funny how some of them, like young Tyler, seem to really enjoy being the bat but are then incredibly quick to get upset once they become the ball. And yo, swinging on a helmetless guy while you're wearing a helmet? Really? Wow, you're so brave, buddy.

KB do you hear Ty knocking?

P.S. It’s a Chicken move to serve up a two piece with your helmet on. Loose the lid or hands down.
Sport needs him. KB is a year or two away from really falling off, imo, and there won't be too many drivers who fit that villain role, other than drivers who have run ins with Elliott - and those guys are just villains to Elliott and his fans. But a villain of the entire sport?

Gibbs has been the villain organization for years...what greater villain than the entitled grandson of the owner, with the name, with loads of success?

I hope he starts winning cup races right away, so we can all bitch about someone collectively.

I foresee an Ernie Irvan level groveling apology at an upcoming drivers meeting for young Ty.

That's the thing about racing people the way Ty has. Sr did it (though far better), but it mostly stayed on the track. He was wrecking people (and getting wrecked) etc but then friends with them (mostly - see Bodine etc) off the track.
🙄

Finally got to watch this race. Good job by Brandon Jones who was probably the only guy to stay out of trouble during the race.

I said before that I would never criticize Ty Gibbs but I have to reconsider that. What happened between him, Mayer and Cassill on the final turn was just a racing deal. Ty pulled a massive overreaction and as it has been remarked several times it's cowardly to keep your helmet on during a fight.
I'm confident Ty will learn from this incident and come back stronger after the off-weekend.

I’m not. Until he either gets his ass whipped big time or has major consequences levied his way, he’ll never learn. A leopard can’t change its spots.

Me neither. He was an entitled jackass in ARCA, showed signs last year in Xfinity, and went full blown this year when he got the full time gig from grandpa.
