Did you all see the fans standing up hollering in joy, after the crash.

That was because Gordon went behind the wall. ;)
Are you the Amazing Kreskin or did you talk to every moron out there cheering?

Its stupid.

I dont like jr at all, he anoys me at so many levels. I still felt sorry for him with all the troubles he had at daytona I would never celebrate at someone being involved in a wreck.

Could you imagine if alot of people were to stand up and hollar when de sr crashed and died, or adam. Same thing could happen to gordon, and don't tell me they waited to see if the drivers were alright. You could hear them screaming as soon as they saw who was involved in the wreck.

I hated to hear them cheer, but I think it was for Gordon too.

Smack...I think it's stupid for somebody to have an avatar 'pissing on Ford', but that is your choice buddy! I hate the way I perceive NASCAR gave the #3 & then the #24 all the advantages, but that is heresy.

I was on my way to the Orlando airport when the crash happened in 2001 at Daytona...I was happy Dale Sr. didn't get a chance to win & Mikey finally won a WC race...but I had to deal with a kid who asked me who she is going to cheer for after her favorite driver died. We didn't find out what happened until I called my brother from the Milwaukee airport & you know what sucks the most...she hasn't gave a crap about racing since then.

It's often hard to say if people are cheering for the accident or because a certain driver had damage and had to go behind the wall.

I'm guilty of cheering when one of my not-so-favorite drivers has difficulty. But cheer at an accident ---- never. I'll even cheer for my not-so-favorite when I see he's climbed out and everyone is OK.

"fans" like those are why I actually started rooting for Jeff Gordon in the first place. I felt bad for the guy that that many people could take such delight in his misfortune. It is really pathetic that these people don't have anything better to do. I will admit that I really don't dislike seeing Tony Stewart have some difficulties like...blowing an engine, losing a tire, trouble in the pits, what have you. But I would never even consider actually cheering heartily when someone is in a wreck. That is just classless.

Same here 4xchamp. I started liking him while in another forum a guy tried telling me how bad he was at all other forms of racing, despite a couple USAC championships.

The whole point is I think that the fans cheer when they see certain drivers get knocked out of a race or are okay after a bad wreck. I still think that was the case.

Nobody wants to see any driver get hurt. Whether you like them or not.

4x...I've never been a Jeff fan, but always held the opinion of the guy, if there is ever someone who can break the records of Richard Petty & Dale Earnhardt...he is the one to do it! I have to be a little bias of the guy since my little race 'Bud' is a big fan of his...she is 10 now & has liked the guy since she was 5 years old. Her first WC race was in 1998 at Michigan, Jeff won for her...how can you root against a guy who wins a race like that!!! Mark Martin was going to run away with that race...which was fitting since his dad & step-sister were killed the week before in a plane crash. Then a caution came out with about 18 laps to go...I looked at the wife & said 'Oh ****" I think Jeffie is going to win...I turned to Shortie & said 'Pay Attention, I think the 'Wonder Boy' is going to pull this race out!!! I was right, Jeffie came out of the pits right behind Mark & blew by him him after the restart of the race & won his first Michigan race.

Well said, sista!!

Thats the way it has been and the way it will always be.

Okay, since Rusty was openly accusing everyone of cheating, why do you think that those weren't cheers for him smacking the wall?

I hate to say it but I agree that Gordon is the one that really has a good shot at beating Earnhardt's and Petty's records. when you're that good people love to hate you.
I saw it for years, people cheering every time the # 3 had a problem.

I agree with you folks. No decent person wants to see another person hurt ,anyway.I may be guilty of cheering when the 'other' guy blows or spins....but not when their is an accident.

So here is a cheer to the safety of all the drivers!

Don't want to argue with you, but when the camera showed Jeff going behind the wall it got a lot louder.

I think that is just the way some fans are. They will cheer when a driver they don't like has trouble. To cheer that someone has been in a wreck is just ignorant. Unfortunately, ignorance is not illegal, just highly annoying and at times. shows how little class some people have.

I didn't hear the cheering until Jeff had pulled away from the accident. It is safe to asume he was alright at that point. I do not believe everyone that cheered were hoping that he was hurt, but glad to see he had problems.

No offense Racer8, but I think that was FOX trying to play up that angle. They will do anything to get ratings & to get noticed...this will play it up by 'cranking up the volume' when Jeff crashed.

They are a top network now...but still have that #4 mentality.

I've seen it in person at Martinsville. They love cheering his misfortune down there. Those drunks at the fall race last year probably had the best time they have ever had there with Jeff finished like 30somethingth(?) because of mechanical problems and Junior bumping him up a little bit. It is brutal to hear that many people with nothing better to do.

4x...never been to Martinsville, but I've been to Lowe's, Atlanta, Daytona, Talladega, New Hampshire, Watkins Glen, the Brickyard, Michigan, Chicagoland & will be going to Bristol for the first time this year...and yes, I've heard the boos for Jeff, but the cheers have been just as loud....same for Tony Stewart. The only person that has always gotten cheers no matter what is Dale Jr. Go figure, huh???

I once read in a popular stock car racing magazine that 'you either like Jeff Gordon,or you are jealous of him'.A very crass and insulting thing for a respected member of the racing press to say! Some don't like Gordon for whatever reason the individual chooses----his backstabbing of Bill Davis for instance.

But this isnt a bash of Gordon, actually I kind of respect his skill.I just think that the media DOES in fact drum up a few emotions with silly statements like this.Certainly not a reason to cheer at his mis-fortune but a contributor to his 'not my favorite' status.Along with his uncanny record,of course.

On the other hand,I just dont see Nascar allowing Gordon or anyone else to eclipse Earnhardt's record....look for a continued slump,IMO.

Backstabbing Bill Davis? Please......go watch Dale Jarret's story and tell me how many teams he backstabbed! Bill Davis didn't have Gordon signed for cup, their mistake and obviously you agree. :p

Actually the story according to Davis is that he and Jeff---along with Ford--had a verbal agreement to move their then BGN effort up to cup with Jeff as driver.Obviously,Jeff chose not to honor it,and Davis instead fielded the maxwell house coffee fords for Bobby Labonte instead.

But I agree with you...a loss for both Ford and Bill! :)

Guess I'm one of the classless ones then. As soon as I see one of my dreaded 5 walking after an accident, I'm cheering the fact that they're out of the race. Gordon's one of them. I laughed like crazy when that heap went behind the wall. Sue me.

He gets my disrespect for what he did to Ford. Nothing else. And I'm willing to bet that having him in a bowtie is precisely why DJ and Rusty got signed the very next season to get out of Pontiacs and into Fords. JMO, but I bet I'm right.

It's nothing different than what Kyle Busch did to Roush this year. Jeff Gordon wasn't setting the world on fire running with Bill Davis & Ford in the Busch series & Rick gave him & Ray a deal they could not refuse in WC. What did Bill do? Grabbed the next best thing, Bobby Labonte. Too bad BDR never got the chance to reap the benefits of BLabs because as soon as DJ bailed on Joe Gibbs, Bobby bailed for Joe Gibbs.

Bill is the one who got Mark Martin introduced to Jack Roush. If you want to see the next up & coming star in WC...check out Bill's Busch team. Hence Booty Barker, crew chief for the #77 team & Scott Wimmer.

Boy I'm glad Gordon isn't in a Ford! Its hard enough with Busch and Biffle. :p

If that was the case I would not have said a thing, if you watch the crash again the volume of the crouds cheering raises greatly as soon as the smoke clears and they can see who was involved.

As for cheering when a driver has a bad day, I can understand thinking to yourself, " Man Im happy hes gone, did not want to see him do good anyway".

But to stand up and scream and clap your hands, that is a diffrent story.

If my avatar bothers anyone please pm me.

I have nothing against the vehicles, I just despise the company, the owner and the current owner.

I am not even a chevy fan, I like dodges myself.

Ignore the last part of my earlier post(about the avatar), I changed it anyway.

Just wasn't appropriate.

I would have waited to cheer when I could tell all the drivers were allright.

Wht do ya expect? The way they're "creating" the Jr/Gordon rivalry this year is just pissing me off.

This whole year has a fishy stench to it anyway.

Oh, how come they don't "turn up the volume" when the people in the stands are throwing beer and booing Hideo?

Well that would be a disgusting seen now, wouldn't it. Does that happen? I just don't understand some people.
