Well, it's time to get started people. If you haven't already made your picks you're still in luck due to the unique qualifying structure of the Daytona 500. There's a link below if you haven't already bookmarked the Yahoo Fantasy Racing site. I don't think that you want to wait until the deadline to make your picks but that's entirely up to you. That sort of thing has bit me in the a$$ on more than one occasion.

I'll create one of these dedicated threads each week for the current race. I'll also create a results thread after the event when the scores have been posted. We have a great turnout this year. Currently we are @ 42 players. I hope to see you all stick around through the end of the season. I know that you will find this more difficult to do as the weeks progress through the season and you fall further and further behind me in the standings. No need to worry though as 2nd place will still be available. I wanted to thank you all that decided to participate and wish you all luck. Actually I just wanted to thank you. Wishing you luck is just a hollow gesture and a way of giving you all hope of some sort.

May the best man/woman/child win!

Deadline to select your drivers for the Daytona 500 is Feb 24 1:25pm EST

DPK, I appreciate your putting this together. This is my first year here, and I know what effort goes into being a commissioner. Thanks!

I never make my final picks until after final practice. Hey, once the deadline has passed, can we see each others' teams?

Bring it on!

BTW how does the bench work? I read it but forgot because I got busy picking my drivers.

in this race, because of the way that they qualify at Daytona, it doesn't really mean much of anything

normally, you've gotta pick your team the night before qualifying

if your team does good in qualifying, you get points (except for the 500)

then, before the start of the race, you've gotta pick who on your team will be your starters

for race day, your bench doesn't have any impact on scoring

Ah okay, I got you. Good to know I'll try to make sure and make my picks before every race this year. Think I got in last year and fell out after like four races. Got busy with life. :)

hope everything works out OK for ya

Martinsville is on my bucket list (after Darlington)

btw, the most important part of the game is probably the fact that you can use a particular driver in only 9 different races; after that you don't get any points for the guy

Sounds good, I like pulling for underdogs anyway!

Hopefully the hernia will be okay, I'm living with it for now until I get health insurance. Going to my GP soon to hopefully get something for the pain which I can live with during the day but it is waking me up at night. For now I have some stuff left over from my last visit that's getting me through. Got some other issues too that I need to take care of but I won't bore you with them.

Martinsville is awesome, you'll love it. A tip, sit about halfway up in turn 2, those are the best seats in the house in my opinion. We used to sit between turn 1 and 2 until they changed the pit lane over from the two separate ones. I saw my first race there with my father and we went probably 8 or 9 times when I was a kid. He used to pull me out of school on race weeks to go watch practice and everything else. We went everyday, got to walk the track and infield, even go to meet a lot of drivers and I got to sit in a cup car at the age of 6 or 7. :D

Obviously I love that track, I only live 20 minutes or so from it and can hear the cars from my home when they run races there. By the way the Hot Dogs used to be awesome but I've heard lately they aren't as good. When I go in the Spring I'll buy one and confirm. ;)

If you're not going to sit in turn 2: Stay away from the front stretch, chicken bone alley (if it still exists), and anything near the front rows. Believe it or not it is hard to see around the track if you sit too low. They have to cram all the trailers in the infield and they block your view if you don't sit high enough. Also, park on the other side of the train tracks and walk in. If you park on the front side of the track you'll have to deal with a ton of traffic!

I want to go see a race at the Lady in Black too, but I heard it's kinda boring in person. My Dad saw a few races there when turn 4 was still the real turn 4...;) He said it was mostly a single file parade all day and didn't really enjoy the race. He's a huge racing fan so if he said it was bad I'm inclined to believe him. Things might have changed since the 90s though!

I wanna go to Richmond too, never been and it's pretty close. Richmond always seems to have a good race and I love me some short tracks. :)

Damn tootin 2nd place with 316 points, now to mellow out a little but stay ahead of UB3. :D

Results after the Daytona 500 - (Top Ten)

Full results here.

Congrats to Copper Head Road Racin who is off to a commanding lead one race in with a score of 330. More than 100 points ahead of 10th place in the standings.

I had both 1st and 2nd as my driver picks! Probably the only time this season I'll be near the top.

Let the sinking begin. LOL
Looks like KyBu gotcha TRL. You woulda blown us away if not for him. :D

My bench was pretty much a 'wash' to my starters this week. I would have ended up about the same had I switched everyone. :(

Tough day for team ★Greg★ (the humble racing forums 2012 chase champions), but thanks to the ★Dingleberry doo crew★ they worked hard.
We are back at the ★Sick Dog Racing shop★ (home of the racing forums 2012 chase champions) now, getting ready for Phoenix.
As the most humbles and ever modest ★2012 racing forums chase champions ★ we are focused.
No groupies before 10:30 am and 'Blacktooth' our infamous CC has commited to limit his visits to the "Dry Heave lounge" (the official lounge of the ★racing forums 2012 chase champions★ ) only 3 more times this month.

Humblist regards ★Greg (the humble racing forums 2012 chase champion★, who refuses to rub it in the faces of the ones who got their butt whupped badly by ★Greg ★
