I was browsing Reddit and Twitter post race tonight and I saw a lot of nasty and unkind posts pointed his and his gf's way, especially once post race results were released. And yea, like other drivers he gets his fair share of hate, but this was looking like JJ and Edwards levels of "He's so annoying" "He wins too much" "NASCAR is rigging his wins" etc

Thoughts?

"Never ever ever ever ever ever ever never never look at Reddit".

I don't really care for him. Glad to see another competitive team though.

I said my piece in another thread, won't rehash that and ruin @TexasRaceLady's morning.

But it's unfair for fans to dislike Truex because NBC's coverage is atrocious. However, a pretty standard reaction for sports fans.

Truex not being stripped of his automatic advancement into the next round is gonna leave a bitter taste in fans' mouths for a while, especially if he wins the championship -- which is very possible.

JMO, but I would ignore any place that suggests Nascar rigs race winners as even though Nascar is a dysfunctional and often times an idiotic sanctioning body they don't rig races yet. Regarding Truex he is a diva and most people don't like divas but I have no idea why people would be nasty toward his gf.

The most talked about driver in the offseason winning the pole for the Daytona 500 four years in a row. Dale Jr's win at Phoenix last November. Kyle Busch winning the championship after the media spent months talking about how it would be the greatest thing ever. Jeff Gordon added to the Chase as a 13th driver.

I don't think the sport is rigged but events in the past few years definitely fuel skepticism and I understand that.

Must be a lot of Harvick fans that don't like him. For me, I like seeing a single car team outshining the multi-car giants.

I'm a Harvick fan and I like Truex.

:idunno:

I think "a lot of Harvick fans" dislike the pit crew who works on Harvick's car every week more than they dislike any driver right now.

I remember people screaming races being rigged for Kyle Busch last year.

This is nothing new, just people looking to complain.

Go back and watch the first Loudon race from last summer. There was some major league race manipulation going on that benefited Kyle Busch.

Again, I don't believe the races are rigged, but the complaints about races being "rigged" aren't unfounded.

The Phoenix race last fall will always leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Until he blames someone else for his issues.

Most "fans" talking about Nascar on twitter or facebook or the nascar/yahoo/etc forums are a bunch of mouth breathers barely competent enough to even operate a computer. I'm sure you will see a ton of nasty comments about any driver that wins no matter who it is (unless it's Dale Jr).

I think MTJ and Pearn have developed this smug sense of entitlement over the past year or so (I call it the JGR effect) but like most reasonable fans, I don't dislike him. I just think he and Pearn need to quit crying about everything.

So, he's supposed to be happy about losing races in the pits every week?

I don't think the issue is about whether Harvick should be happy or sad more than it is in how he expresses it. Evidently Harvick likes to do his dirty laundry in public which can't be considered an attribute.

When Denny Hamlin successfully came on the scene he was a grateful and happy young man...........for about 3 weeks then his inner Eeyore and self entitled diva mentality rapidly surfaced. I don't dislike guys like Hamlin or Truex but I also believe they are not qualified to drop off the dry cleaning for people like Tim Richmond, Geoff Bodine or Ricky Rudd.

I have no problem with Truex, other than that he drives a Toyota. Just like with politicians, the media/fans build somebody up to what is perceived of as too high of a pedestal, then delight in tearing it down. Truex is probably going down that path; he's losing the underdog status.

Fans a super knee-jerk. Especially on the Reddits/Twitters/Facebooks. A lot of fans are also just as @dpkimmel2001 describes. I personally like MTJ a lot. I dislike how often cars fail post-race tech and nothing happens. I think a lot of fans have that same line of thinking.

While I think he and that whole team have become somewhat ****y in the past year, I still like the guy and I'd still like to see him win it all

I do have to admit, Pearn's comment about Logano having trouble seeing through his "squinty douchey eyes" was hilarious. Poor Joey gets so much undeserved hate, but I always find it so entertaining

I don't know if they're turning on him, but maybe on the team. The 78 didn't have so many inspection issues before joining forces with the Gibby bunch did they?

Winning brings out the hatred in others. While I wouldn't call Truax a dominant force yet, there is a clear pattern or history of fans turning on anyone that wins too much.

Virtually every champion will get the treatment as well as anyone that wins too often. Always for any reason, just whatever is most convenient at the time.
And it isn't just cup fans, some of the most hateful yip yap I have seen occurred at the local level.

It's strange because when Hendrick thoroughly dominated for years a small group of fans complained but nothing to this level. And nobody claimed the sport was "dying" because of them. I honestly think the only reason people get so butt hurt is because it's Toyota, which is ungodly stupid. Yes let's lose our minds over a freaking inanimate object. Who gives a F. Also Truex failing the LIS was a minor infraction and we don't know what performance advantage, if any it gave the car. But yes let's strip him of his win make the chase even more a mockery and start giving out 2nd place participation trophies. Start opening that can of worms and see how many more people quit watching. Late model racing is dying and part of it is the Disqualifying of a guy who clearly wins the race. We all have eyes and know who won, get over it

I don't dislike Truex for that. He didn't make the rules. I dislike NASCAR for that. A lot.

A great deal of Redditors (kinda catchy) aren't fans they just want something else to bitch about.
One of these days I'll get around to looking at some of these new-fangled 'socialist medium sights', or whatever the heck it is you kids call 'em.. Based on your advice, I'll look into Reddit last.

This is revisionist history at its finest.

Kinda hard to keep your laundry to yourself when the pit reporters stick a camera and mic in your face every time you leave a red sock in with the whites.

Nothing to this level? You don't remember people hashing out Jeff Gordon's sexual orientation, or Jimmie Johnson 'not paying his dues', or both catching Hell for the mortal sin of coming from ... California?

I don't dislike Truex for that. He didn't make the rules. I dislike NASCAR for that. A lot.
I have to retract this comment. I made it when I thought people were referring to the #78's infraction at Richmond, before I became aware the team had committed another one at Chigao.

I still don't dislike Truex, but I'm now more than willing to agree that there's plenty of blame for the team.

****y? Look up Johnson and the 48 team when they were winning championships, their photo is in the dictionary under ****y.
You'd think with his money he could afford to buy a razor and shave.

I can't say that I see like or dislike of a driver coming due to the decal on his spec car as Harvick won't all of a sudden become more popular or more disliked next year when he drives a Ford and Truex isn't disliked because of anything other than he is perceived as a self entitled diva. Right or wrong my take is that fans don't want to see a driver automatically advance to the next round if they have a car that flunks post race. It wouldn't matter if it was JJ, Harvick, JLo, BKez, Shrub or Truex.

I don't tweet because I don't give a ratsass what someone I don't know thinks and I don't care about being the first to know something. From what I have read here and elsewhere it sounds like a lot of social media sites are for people unable to form meaningful relationships in the real world as many of the participants are lacking in areas they should not be.

Strange that Harvick will hang around long enough after the race to dump his pit crew, but won't stay around to answer questions about why he tried to ruin Truex day by punching him in the side on the straightaway.

LOL, One thing my business mentor told me years ago is not to publicly hold up any employee to ridicule as every employee notices it and then pull their horns in. By that he meant they won't share thoughts or ideas on how to make improvements or won't take any calculated chances for fear of ridicule. I had some employees that were embarrassed to get a pat on the back and others that thought they ran the place. I used to have to bring in one guy about every 6 weeks or so and chew his ass out and then he was fine for another 6 weeks and we would sit down on a Friday after work and he would get reamed again.

I think there was more dislike for HMS then any other team as there were the Fans Against Gordon group plus others that said Rick Hendrick faked his leukemia, the only reason Jimmie Johnson was any good was because he was given every thing and believe it or not there were others that wished Gordon, Johnson and Rick Hendrick were on the plane that crashed that killed Hendrick family members and employees.

I had a young enlisted man like that in the National Guard. Every three or four months I'd have to chew him up one side and down the other. After I got out, I bumped into an old buddy who said the kid turned out to be an excellent NCO. Sometimes it's all worth it.

I'd completely forgotten about Fans Against Gordon.
