As a passionate Toyota/TRD fan, I now understand how to manage reliability numbers from a manufacturer perspective---When you start to blow, drive it into the wall. Delana's wife is listed as having finished his race due to an accident. SMDH. BS.

lol

I don't think anyone is going to hesitate on making a purchasing decision at the Toyota dealership based on Joe Nemechek retiring from the race due to a rear gear failure.

I didn't realize Delana even had a wife.

I've owned Fords, Toyota's and Chevy's. Believe me from my perspective none are more reliable than Toyota.

Very interesting stuff there Rev !! Harvick is well trained isnt he :D

That TRD power though? :sarcasm:

I drove a '96 Chevy for several years without any mechanical issues. I got a Toyota for college to help with fuel costs & within 6 months the electronics were shot. :bleh:

Harvick took a huge dive in points, his wonderful Chevrolet experienced 2 DNFs in 4 races !!!
Cant win championships like that

I don't know what I hate worse.

The Ford/GM fans who think NASCAR is rigged for Toyota because dirty japs.

or

The Toyota fans who think NASCAR is rigged for Chevrolet because Rick Hendrick.

Not so much that as it is the drama around TRD reliability, but if it's Hendrick Motor--well, now that's different.....Kind of like how Junior was Chicago away from being Champion. Had he been in a Toyota, the storyline would have read that Toyota cost Junior a Championship.

Power ain't the problem sport. You must be more man than I.....I would never admit to ever being behind the wheel of anything but my manufacturer.

Find me the Toyota fan who feels that way. Ain't this guy. Love it that there is a dominant force whose ass needs to get kicked. Do that, and you have done something.

It's been probably since last June that TRD had reliability issues. I don't really see people discussing that anymore.

And if I remember correctly, Jr. and Logano blew up at Chicagoland because they were running late at night in much cooler temperatures than what the engines were built for. That was the cut-and-dried explanation back then.

I'll get behind the wheel of whatever the **** gets me from A to B

Man, it's constant. Claire B. Lang on NASCAR Radio was talking about it Friday night, and she is a very balanced reporter. Frankly, the cooler temperature thing is BS--EFI compensates for that if you listen to the tuners last night. Bottom line--I am sensitive to that because reliability has been an issue for TRD. No debate. HOWEVER, if the media goes there, be fair.

I like that attitude, but if you feel that way, what exactly are you complaining about in the first post of this thread?

The car is listed as exiting the race due to an accident. He should have been listed as engine failure because the freakin' engine blew up, and then the fluid put him in the wall. Kind of a chicken before the egg thing. Fair is fair. Hendrick motor blew, and cost the 4 the race. Period. Would have read that way if it was a TRD motor--as well it should.

SHR have been plagued with engine troubles this year. The 14 and 10 at Daytona, the 41 a week later, now the 4 for the past two weeks.

No other HMS engines are blowing up which tells me it's on the SHR end.

SHR doesn't touch them. All Hendrick.....except when they blow apparently.

Are you bitching about Kevin Harvick's non DNF or is it the usual TRD > everyone else?

How do you know that?

Don't they have an engine guy that can tune the motor up for max HP if they want?

just a guess ? ...same ecu ........but stuff like a/f ratio ....etc ... can be re mapped by tuner. .....esp if in r&d mode.
same deal as w/ carb.....reliability vs that little extra hp.

He's bitching that the official results gave Harvick an "accident" instead of "engine" for reason for the DNF.

I must say, I thought I'd heard everybody complain about everything during my time watching racing but this is a new one to me. :D

The fact that SHR is blowing engines all over the place while other HMS engines aren't, tells me SHR are doing something to those engines.

You need to roll the windows up and put the hood down... not roll the windows down and put the hood up before you drive through the car wash.:D

If it was Kyles TRD I would be whining my ass off, if it were Hamlin or Kenseth I would be dancing a happy dance. Sorry about that Rev but I got to be honest to my friends. Kyle keeps plugging the JGR powerplants, I think he still wishes the cup cars had them. He is quick to butcher whoever built his engines if he isnt winning though. Honestly think the handling issues are the biggest problem this year, they just cant stay with the track it seems

Is this thread really necessary? I understand the "passion" thing, but you seem just a bit over the top, no offense. Sure, many Toyotas are reliable cars, but I don't understand how any car enthusiast can refuse to drive another make besides their precious Toyota. Seems kind of ignorant to me. Personally there hasn't been one Toyota that I've found halfway interesting since they killed the Supra. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
