Big changes coming

it's nothing more then eliminating fuel mileage races because we can't have unpopular drivers like Paul Menard and Brad K winning races and championships

You have got to be kidding me.

Us fans bitch NON STOP that the TV networks cut to commercial too much under green and we miss some action. So the TV networks agree to air a bunch of the commercials under yellow, guaranteed AFTER the pit stops so we don't miss the battle on pit road, and we complain about it?? The networks have to make money. Commercials have to happen either way. They just threw us a bone and we're gonna complain about that as if we'd prefer to take those commercials under green or something. Holy crap, what CAN they do right?
Ehh, I guess you're right. I just hate that the field is bunched backed together again but that happens all the time anyways. Now it's just formalized.

Overall I think it's okay, it's just going to be confusing for a while.

If a win gets you in the Chase I see no incentive in these bonus points.I don't understand how taking breaks from racing is going to do away with "boredom" either. If they are going to stop racing then the channel will probably change. I have no interest in mid race interviews as they already do them in car which is better in my opinion.
They carry through the Chase.

Given that this is also going to be in trucks and xfinity strategy is officially dead in those series. Cautions every 20-40 laps at the big tracks

I just conjured up the ghost of Groucho Marx and he had a question for the forum. He wanted to know if a driver says the secret word between segments do they win $100?

"Every sport Im aware of makes changes every year to improve the fan product"

Theres a difference between "improvements" and carving up the very essense & roots of what made the sport enjoyable.

Wish they would let a RF poster be on the panel to ask questions, must be one that knows how to ****mouth Brian France,

You guys need to not look at this as, "Ugh, ANOTHER change...", but as the way that the chase should have been implemented from the very beginning if it had been implemented well.

With the bonus points that carry through the first three rounds, this now means that the whole season matters again. Anybody who was upset about the chase should be satisfied that the first 26 races matter again and help you in the championship. This is like the perfect blend of new and old.

So we basically have 2 different points systems now. One or the first 26 races and one for the chase.

Are the resets gone for each playoff **** round?

Do the record books account for stage wins now? Cause I'm about to celebrate like it's 1999 when Clyde gets his first. I mean that's how they want us to react right?

Also, is Gordon eligible to make the playoffs from up in the booth under this format? Surely there's a way.

Are the resets gone for each playoff sh!t round?
The resets will still happen, but the bonus points from the regular season will carry over to each round. Also, bonus points will be awarded for the playoff rounds and will also carry over.

The races are separated into stages like its the ****** Rallye Monte Carlo. Points are thrown around before the midway point of the race even occurs. This is a **** show

AM I missing something? Why do they think 10 "playoff points" is going to make the racing that much different?

Restarts are the most contested parts of a race and at cookie cutters after a lap and a half the leader is checking out and the top 5 have settled in with a few minor changes occurring as time goes by. I think there will be more wrecks as drivers run out of talent and if true a lot of people will be happy.

Excluding the 600, the endurance has been gone for years. If you want endurance, you're looking at the wrong series; probably the wrong form of racing.

Even the 600 doesn't mean anything anymore. There is no endurance factor in NASCAR anymore. Watch WEC or IMSA if you want that. So because there's no endurance factor anymore why would you bother watching 500 or 600 miles when they'll all make it to the end anyway and only the last 20 laps matter.

What? No. Sames points system. You keep getting all the same bonus points even in playoff races. It's the exact same thing all 36 races.
That's not how I understand it. You get 5 playoff points for winning a race and 40 points for the regular season. I don't think the regular season points carry over at all. Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly.

It wouldnt be as bad if they didnt come down pit road & shut the cars off. If they kept it green it would be tolerable.

This **** is abhorent.

This sh!t is abhorent.

It's gonna be awkward as **** and an immediate turn off to any potential consumers.

Somebody put together a nice bulleted ELI5 when all the info is out.... I'm not able to watch at the moment.

When the playoffs start, the points are reset but the playoff bonus points carry over. Right?

He made a good point though. He said the long miles were made to make it an endurance test on both machine and driver. But with today's technology going 4-500 miles isn't a great task for a car

If a person had to come up with a clean sheet as to how racing would be done today I doubt anyone would come up with this plan but who knows?

Of course the record books don't count the stage wins because only the leader of the last lap in the winner of the race.

Let's not overreact.
