JGR Performance

Hmmm. An interesting observation by Dale Jr. on Team Penske's speed...

“I mean, I felt like we were pretty good and we ran with the cars that have been really fast,” Earnhardt said. “I think (Brad Keselowski) and (Joey Logano) have been really the class of the field.

“I saw those guys weaving after the race and downshifting hard to reset their housing, so we have to figure out what they are doing and see if we can’t make it better.”

Both Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch have commented consistently on the Penske right rear on scanner. Good for Penske getting ahead on this. Part of the game.

I don't think the Gibbs cars are much worse than last year.
KyBu came Close to winning at Phoenix and Martinsville, Hamlin and especially Kenseth had loads of bad luck and I don't think anyone expected Suarez to win races in his rookie Season.

I was more worrined about Hendrick before yesterday's race and they got turned it round quickly.

Maybe, but I look at Kentucky and Michigan where this year's package was run last year....connect it to this year, and there is work to do.

Turn 2: Is Bristol the place where Joe Gibbs Racing gets its first win of the year?

Smith: Not likely. JGR has some short track beasts in Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch -- and Matt Kenseth ain't bad, either. But the cars aren't there right now. I asked around regarding the performance thus far. Here's what I learned: JGR cars lack the mechanical grip other teams produce, namely Penske. For the past couple years, Gibbs teams have been downforce kings. And in fact, they probably still are. But the new Cup Series aero package removes some of the importance of that downforce, in terms of how it affects lap times. And then there's technical inspections. Gibbs stays very conservative on how far it pushes the rules limits. Add all that up -- with a rookie teammate, as well, in Daniel Suarez -- there's still work to do.

DW may be insufferable most of the time but he did say during the Texas broadcast that Penske has always been known for their excellent shocks, so this just seems to back it up.

Yeah, well, JGR had immense mechanical grip last year until the truck arm mounts needed to be welded and the fans were taken away. Would love to know what Penske is up to.....and whether or not NASCAR will do the same to them.

Interesting point on set up aggressiveness. Paul still on vacation?

Its simple, Penske is using alloys that gives skew under side loading.

Byzanium. Not to be confused with bizanium which has different properties…………………………

The only known supply was aboard RMS Titanic.

Penske contracted an adventurer by the name of Dirt Pitt to recover same. The rest is history.
