Kurt Busch out at SHR after 2017

well you idea of the word contend is different than mine. Kurt won a plate race, Kahne happened to be in the pits when the caution flew, and Kenseth is the only one that is a bit above average. Take the win and your in part out of the other two and they are closer to back markers than they are contenders IMO. Larson, Blaney and Elliott are three of the new hires that contend every week. All solidly in the playoffs at this point.
Kurt and Matt consistently make the Chase / playoffs; Matt is one of only two drivers to miss out only once (Johnson). While it's a questionable approach to race coverage, TV puts an emphasis on the championship contenders, giving them more screen time regardless of where they're running. Sponsors notice that.

I'll take 3 & 4 over 2 & 3 when it comes crunch time. I like Larson but wouldn't put money on him in a clutch just yet.

As for who's in, and with the present format, Kenseth and Busch stand the same chance of winning it all as do Truex and Johnson.

In previous years, I would have agreed with you. With the playoff points system, Truex has a much better chance of advancing to the final round than non-race winners. Johnson too, but not to the same extent. When it comes to getting out of the first two rounds, those points are going to be important.

Incidentally, that's a good thing.

I think Nascar might have neutered Larson's bunch when they found that sneaky adjustable fin and the creative duct work.

funny stuff. Chase already has his own plane as does his dad Bill who has two or three. Newman's wife Chrissy flys a helicopter

here are some more Nascar drivers birds.

There's the corporate planes. Gibbs has two or three that I've seen at the airport. I've not seen HMS planes but sure they exist. RCR, they all have a fleet or rent a fleet.

P.S. I don't think that Dupont plane is for real. Looks like a photo shop.

yeah those I threw in there were drivers planes, there were plenty more, and yeah I left out the teams larger jets that take the crews to the races. Hendrick has three, Jr has a couple or he has a really big private bird. Almost threw in D.W.'s motor home for kicks and grins, Yeah the 24 might be fake but it sure is cool.

Actually, when did Johnson miss the Chase?

You make a good point, though. Kurt and Matt are well worth a seat. Although, I must say, there is no denying that Matt's age may play a role in whether or not he gets one. I expect Kurt to find a ride.

Well, sumbich. I'd have sworn JJ missed one, but I can't find it now. Excuse me while I get this egg off my face.

Yeah forever it was Matt and jj as the only two to make every chase and then Matt missed it and now it's only jimmie.

I think JJ only ever finished out of the top 5 once prior to the bastardization lottery format but I may be wrong and need to borrow your towel to get the egg off my face......:)

Always have been pretty sure that Kurt announcing he is out of contract is a really good way to get plenty of press. Stewart Haas hasn't said a word for a long time after saying he was going to run 4 cars next year. Smart move, good to see if others who want to sponsor a car knows the door is open at SHR.

I think they got a swinging deal on an antique 747 myself. forgot the fuel cost part though.:D
