Cup RACE thread ---- Texas, Rd. 1

Kevin Harvick wins a couple in a row he a god in here haha.. man y’all really hate this dude don’t y’all.. it’s so sickening to see the hate for him.. just give the guy his props omg! He outdrove Harvick just how y’all claim truex outdrove him in the championship

don't include my ass in the dumbassery dude :D

I think it would've been more interesting and maybe a different outcome if the "big one" hadn't taken out some top teams.

It was ineviable for you! Hahha. I did also say Kyle out drove him.

This kind of discussion has happened plenty of times without KB. It isnt taking anything away from Kyle. Its moreso complaining about nascar from 2012-onward. And how despite being faster, the 2nd car stalled out.

2015 was way worse though with cars stalling out. Harvick, KB were the exceptions that year.

Kyle Busch almost always gets better as the race wears on. When he gets out front, he really is able to keep his car tuned up. But Harvick and his havoc's gave the race away

I think the worst case of this though is Ashley Judd. The camera wouldn't leave her if Dario Franchitti was in a position to win.

It was in the rain dude, enjoy! !!!!

Not going to even bother reading anybody else's post because all it's going to do is make me remember how much I dislike Kyle but at the end of the day congrats to that team they obviously deserve it.

Congrats to KDB, a hell of a driver. Privilege to watch him race, championship showdowns are better with him in it

Can someone explain how Harvick wasn't given a penalty for what happened with his tire? It clearly rolls out of his pit box without anyone controlling it (the crew member was more than an arms length away from it).

They finally listened to me. :idunno: Not soon enough for Blaney though

NEWS --> NASCAR says it should have called an uncontrolled tire penalty on Kevin Harvick. Scott Miller: "It was a judgement call, and after conducting a post-race review of the incident an uncontrolled tire penalty for the 4 car would have been correct. We missed that call.”

Came here to say that I thought Harvick should've pitted on that last caution along with Darrell & Ricky. He would've restarted 4th I believe, right behind Wallace, who proceeded to have a decent restart himself.

I know it's a hindsight thing, and Wallace's car didn't react well even with the fresh tires, but we saw how Harvick nearly ran Kyle down before that last caution thanks to his 20 lap fresher tires.

His pit crew had been awful all day, but there was nothing to lose in that final yellow. Bad call by Mr. Harvick. He had the perfect opportunity to win since Kyle was gonna stay out.

He really thought he could beat Kyle on the same strategy? He a fool then.

I'm impressed. NASCAR doesn't have a history of admitting officiating errors as they should. Instead the tendency has been to make nonsensical excuses. The call was wrong based on how the rule is being enforced currently, but this the proper response.

What a terrible call. That's something you should easily make in-race. What "review" did they do post-race that they couldn't see during it? They're awfully fortunate Harvick didn't win.

How did they miss it? They go on and on about the cameras that they have on each pit box whenever they have to explain why the officials make a call. That wasn't a judgement call. That was a flagrant violation. It is crap like this that makes people say NASCAR is rigged.

ah I have two bones to pick with Nascar, their tire rule, and the splitter. As long as the tire(s) don't impair anybody else's pit operation or pathway, getting them back to the wall is fine. With the reduction in pit crew members it looks like a bunch of amateur jugglers handling the tires. The other, the splitter?, it isn't needed.

The teams asked for the reduction in personnel to cut cost.

That tire rolled out of the box and into pit road. The speed limit is 55 mph. If that pit crewman had been struck by that car that drives by in the clip I posted he would have been killed. It is a safety issue. That's the reason for the rule.

When two cars have roughly equal pace and tires and there is one legitimate usable groove track position and clean air is going to win out almost all the time.

The North Texas Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area could use some rough weather to break this track in some more and open up some more lines.

they would do it differently and lay the tire down in the box if the new dog and pony show wasn't in place. Worked well for years.

The first penalty on Blaney realistically caged the final outcome of the race. Without the penalty I would say he would have won the race

Hey, Blaney is one of my drivers, but the tire thing didn’t cost him a win. They had a really good but not great car. Nobody was beating KDB today other than possibly Happy, and he couldn’t do it.

Tip of the cap to Kyle. He has been strong for many races and it was a matter of when, not if, he won a race.

Also could be said that the rolling tire would have been in control if there was another set of eyes/hands in the box.

Less men on deck will create more mistakes and corners cut, as evidenced.

It’s a dangerous sport, but these brave men willfully volunteered.

I never thought one less pit crew man was a good idea, does it really save that much? What's the cost reward?

For sure, get a pass thru penalty late in the race and your difference in prize money would pay the extra man's salary for a year, or go along way towards doing it.

That battle at the end was very tense. One slip-up by #18 and the #4 would've been right there. Busch didn't make any mistakes and deserved the win. This wasn't a case of a significantly faster car stuck behind a slower one. Save the bellyaching about the cars for when it's actually relevant.

The fascinating thing about Kyle's drive was that he found maybe .05 of a second on entry into 1. This gave him just enough to hold off Harvick because Kyle was better in 3 and 4. That .05-.10 of a second he found there was all driver. He never had to beat Harvick into 1...he just had to get a touch better, and he knew it. Just fabulous stuff. I think that 18 driver might have a future in this sport.

Loved the "what happened" look on the dejected bully's face after the race :lol2::lol2: walking around mumbling " we were better than Truex"
