weight loss news

I can't push off with my right knee, anymore. It hurts so bad..

Ouch. Very sorry, I've been there. Make sure you let it rest and heal as best as you can before putting forces on it again.

I've gotten back into running lately. It is infinitely easier after I lost the 50 lbs. I discovered that our four year old son loves nothing more than taking long exploratory trips in the jogging stroller, which has provided the motivation I was missing to run regularly. I've logged 20 miles so far this week. I'm thinking it is going to feel weird to run without the stroller now, feels natural to be pushing it.

Hi,

My knee is better today. When I aggravate it, it hurts so bad that I cry out in pain. They gave me a brace at my last ortho visit.

I go back on the 1st to see a surgeon but he won't do anything. It's more of a consult, that's all.

I wish I could jog but there is no way and walking is boring.

If you're having knee/joint problems you do not want to go jogging, stick with low impact exercises. I just ordered one of these, a stationary portable bike on the advice of another guy. He sits and gets on his computer or watches TV while he ''pedals my ass off''.
His edema in his lower legs is gone, no more cankles. Good for his cardio etc. Plus he's losing weight.

PT has helped me so much. We've strengthened the muscles around my knees and my lower back. I've been on PT since Feb so that tells you how bad I was when I started and I still have a ways to go.

Really not a fan of digital scales. If weighed on a regular scale it would show that I weigh what I did at the last weigh in. But nooooo on this digital it shows I gained 2/10's of a pound. I'm now depressed and the only solution I can think of is more pie.:)
The doc will be seeing me shortly to discuss the findings of my check up and tests. I know the results from Dr. Jellyfinger and his hose camera came back clean,,,er I mean ok.

Got on the scales earlier this morning and I weigh exactly the same as I did last week. Maybe the pie isn't working. I have been using the mini bike pedal thingy everyday, twice a day since I got it.
Got all my test results back, everything is in the good range, my lung capacity has even improved!
Damn pneumococcal pneumonia kicked my ass

I have had a new ortho (same office) take over my case. He wasn't pleased that the old ortho wouldn't use cortisone shots on my knees. He wasn't pleased at all.

Both knees have had gel shots and also cortisone shots and feel better.

Last night I had a pastrami sammich and fries from Ollies.

Weigh exactly the same as I did a month ago. By exactly I mean right down to the tenth of a pound on the same digital scale.... looks like pie ain't workin'

I have no idea what i weigh. My eating has sucked lately. If i've gained any, it's not a lot. My clothes havent changed.

Fall will be here before we know it so i'm going to start looking for jeans at second hand stores, now. Better selection.

I am going to need a new winter coat, too.

Hmm lost I 1.8 pounds last week and I didn't do anything different. In fact diet, what diet? Friday I had fish and chips and scallops combo, Saturday a Ollies double mushroom burger w/ a side of made in-house onion rings, Last night a local sammich chain, D'Angelo's, got a #9, shaved steak, cheese, onions, peppers and 'shrooms.

I'm stuck at 297. I joined Golds Gym a couple of weeks ago and am going 3 times a week.

Whatever you do, stay focused, keep with the program and keep working out. I find the more I work out the easier it is for me to strive to reach my goals.
I think you're doing great, Lisa. Keep it up!!

Yes it's discouraging at times, you do the work yet the results aren't there. Lately it seems I maintain the same weight for a couple of weeks then lose a pound +/- the third week. I hit the gym here 5-6 times a week. Occasionally but not too often twice a day.

I have friends with weight loss goals.
They liken the struggle to a marathon as opposed to a sprint. It takes time and perseverance is required.
Keep it up, Lisa.

That seems like perfect exercise for you. Water resistance is nice and easy on the body.

It went pretty well clutch. I am having trouble doing side to side motion with my right leg. Front to back motions aren't too bad.

I'm thinking I need to see my ortho to help my range of motion.

Thank you, bobbyford.

I do get frustrated sometimes but then I take a good long look at what I'm doing and then come up with ways I can improve.

Next class for me is Thursday at 530 again. I'm just going to have to watch my right knee a little. :)

Remember that the less you weigh the easier it will be. Simple equation is energy in must be less than energy out to lose weight.
So I guess eating less is the answer. My 2 cents.

True but I'm doing pretty well there. I've lost 45 lbs since last fall. I have terrible knees too. It's only a matter of when I get my knees fixed.

I can get into a size 22 jean from a 24. The 22s are tight around the waist but I can snap them. I wore them all day comfortably. I'm so happy.

I have no idea what my weight is though.

Bad time of the year to try keeping to a diet of any kind. Someone ate the 3.8 pound bag of Herseys dark chocolate kisses I had hidden for the trick or treaters*..
Now comes T-day, egg nog, Christmas parties, Christmas dinner, turkey, ham or a roast. Then another round of holiday dinners on New Years. Oh, pies,,,pies mustn't forget the pies, apple and pumpkin.

*I read that dark chocolate is good for your heart so I ate it all to promote my hearts good health.
