Reddit Police at it Again - This Time it's the 78 Team

LOL. In my eyes, the cover up is worse than the original crime. But we'll see what Nascar officials think. One thing is for sure... the officials cannot catch everything, not in Nascar or any other sport.

A guy would think they would get hit a lot harder now for manipulating the car after the race than they would have for missing a lug nut or 2

Just noticed the official is one of my fellow spotters turned NASCAR guy David Green.

He was just cleaning the wheel nuts.

Sure, it looks fishy, but it's also completely circumstantial. I know this isn't a court of law, but I don't think it would stand up in an appeal.

If NASCAR wants to push it they do have a rule that you cannot touch the car after qualifying or the Race unless an official is present and gives you permission.

I guess the only thing they'd have to look at is how torqued the lugs on that wheel are.

Nascar has a rule thats “in nascar’s judgement” which is subject to change with the wind.

I am sure that NASCAR will come up with a three quarters of a million dollar device to prevent this. Cracks me up.

Great person. Have stayed in the same hotel several times, and rode the elevator with him a billion times. Always asks, "Did you enjoy your day at the track?" My response is the same, "Love this stuff!" He always responds, "That makes me very happy." The dude is for real.

He's a great guy and was a great driver too..

I imagine the NASCAR ranks are full of ex-drivers and former crew chiefs we don't know about. That might make a good story for someone somewhere.
Hmmm, yes their are a lot. Lemme see, Chad Little is another, Tony Glover, Andy Houston to name a few.

I have an ignorant question. I assume the video is from the network's roof cam. How did it come to be on Reddit?

I always liked David Green. Seems like a classy guy. I wish he could have found more success at the Cup level. I also appreciate all the work he did for Hendrick Motorsports over the years.

Sawyer was with Action Express Racing (IMSA), but I believe he is back with NASCAR. Gary Nelson and Mike Hill are still with Action Express. Jimmy Kitchens is one of their spotters.
I wondered where Jimmy ended up. Last time I saw him he was Spotting for Ben Kennedy in the KN Series.

is the on car camera the only thing they have on this? if thats it you can't say that is what he was doing. as a side note watch how chase elliott gets through the bus stop. holy crap he pulls a car length or more getting through that. that fact alone made him the winner of the race. I watched it over and over I can't figure out what he is doing to do it. right at the exit of the bus stop the 9 car just squirts forward.

Who cares? Folks acting like lug nuts make a difference performance wise.

The only reason this stupid rule is in place is because Tony Stewart threw a hissy years ago.

The 9 in the Bus Stop is a great point. Entering the race, I thought nobody could beat the 18 through the Bus Stop. I was wrong. Chase was the equal of if not better than KB. Made the difference IMO.

Yeah I think Bill mentioned that was a strength of theirs all weekend

Insufficient evidence, and don't get caught trying it again.

Moral of the story: if you need to leave nuts loose to save time, make sure they're on the back tires where the camera can't see you.

Lol.

I kinda like that there was no penalty. It was just a lug or two
I forget if it was Pockrass or someone else but I saw a reporter say the other crew chiefs hate the lugnut crap and didn't care about the video lol.
