When's he going to learn to find other grooves that work well without tesring up a car and ending all hope? I told my girlfriend watch him tear his car up and lose the race. He bumped the wall once and got lucky then he did it again and his tire went down. None of the 4 ran up that high but he really had nothing to lose and everything to gain. He was fast up there and a legit threat to win. Wonder if he would have taken that same line all day if he was in the final four?

During the broadcast, one of the announcers (Dale I think) mentioned that these bodies aren't nearly as durable as the composite bodies they run in Xfinity. Reddick could gently scrape the wall a time or two without issue, while Larson wasn't as lucky.

It got me thinking.....why don't they run the composite bodies in Cup?

I was wondering the same thing about Larson running the wall. He was one of the cars to beat yesterday and I was wondering if he could keep it up for the full distance (I was cheering for him). He almost made it but in the end there was a mistake.

Larson is fun to watch but his antics are not practical

I think next year they are running composite bodies in cup. You'll see guys riding the wall a lot more too. That kinda sucks imo. They still run the risk of cutting a tire or knocking the suspension to **** but it's less risky with composite bodies than in these sheet metal cars up there.

I think if he hadn’t run the wall he would have been a mid pack car at best. I do wish he would have waited until later in the race to do it but he really had nothing to lose.

I know I'll get bashed for this, but Larson just seems to be too much of a one trick pony. I just don't get the feeling he is a much different driver than he was when he was a rookie. I know he isn't in the best equipment, but at some point you have to finish races and take what you can get, and when you DO have a car that can compete like yesterday, you need to be smart enough to not throw it away.

If he hadn't run up there he would have been laped by half way. His car sucked everywhere except next to the wall.

How much time does he spend on trying to run his car anywhere but up against the wall? It hasn't really worked out that well for him.

It’s less about Larson riding the cushion and more about Larson driving way above the car’s capability IMO.

Why can't he work on getting a good set up somewhere else? Harvick sticks to the bottom mostly. That's the shortest way around the track and Harvick is the best in the business. His car fell off late though and his pit crew was a few thousandths too slow every time.

I mean if he can dial in a rocket ship running an inch off the wall if he's any good he ought to be able to figure out another line and dial that in?

Old habits die hard. He continues to think he is fastest there. That hasn't proven to be the case with another very successful dirt car racer Christopher Bell, he doesn't live or die on the high line like Larson. I think when Kurt races for Ganassi next year it will go a long way to answering what kind of equipment they are racing with.

I frankly don't know how that will play out next year, but Kurt has a lot of years to compare and comparing SHR stuff to Ganassi gives one a bit of an idea along with head to head comparisons. Larson has never driven for anybody else, is killer in the Ganassi Xfinity cars, and Nemo and Chastain did well in the same.
