10 Lap Shootout at Bristol

I'll say Dale, Sr. as well. Yeah, we all know he's not here anymore but he was so much better than Kyle Busch is....1,000,000 times better, actually.

Would he? When's the last time Kyle Busch dumped someone for a win?

Kyle's matured a ton over the past five years or so.

He just hasn’t had to, cause he normally has a good car and is great on restarts. I’m fairly sure he would do it if he needed to tho.

I mean I wouldn't call it a dump, but Chicagoland this year.

I don't think about KyBu as a contact racer. His good buddy Keselowski seems a little more comfortable. I do recall the 2012 Watkins Glen scramble between Kes and KyBu and Ambrose.

2017 Las Vegas run in with Logano who put KyBu down pit road (and the boo-boo KyBu suffered in his one-man-riot on pit road).

In the battle of the Kyles -- KyBu dispatched KyLar without hesitation after being provoked at Chicagoland.

All these drivers know how to use a bumper (and car) -- some better than others. I don't know who this quote is attributed to: "learn to wreck others, without wrecking yourself." But this is mostly situational ethics for drivers -- they all seem to be guilty of violating whatever "Driver Code" they espoused at some point. KyBu seems more sensitive to someone racing him hard.

Even Tony Stewart who complained about others blocking -- then when he saw Michael Waltrip make the move and coming strong, Stewart had no conscience about blocking with contact -- causing that Talledega Big One.

But in the end, I'd give the edge to Dale Earnhardt over Kyle Busch if it escalated from mild contact to full contact, such as is likely at Bristol...

none of them care much of what really happened except if they won or not and the story they were going to tell if something happened.

I just saw the NBC Sports post on Facebook and that's some funny ****. Most of the comments are basically how Kyle's a dirty driver and a whiny bitch who'd cry when Earnhardt "rattled his cage".

Um....

Without provocation? Larson got into him, KyBu returned the favor. Larson even called it good hard racing.

So again, I'd like to see instances of Kyle Busch blatantly dumping a guy for a win. Flat out taking someone out, with intent. Because that's the type of **** Earnhardt did.

I dislike Kyle Busch as much as anybody, but other than the Hornaday incident, I have never considered Kyle a dirty driver. Even in that incident, Ron ran into HIM (BY ACCIDENT) and Kyle badly overreacted, but that was a long time ago, and that was a different situation than wrecking somebody to win a race.

I think it depends on which type of car they were driving. If they were in the old Earnhardt day cars, I give it to Dale, but in these newer lighter cars, I think Kyle has the upper hand.

It is difficult for me to accept the argument that 7 time Cup Champions (in their prime) would not adapt and prevail. But I could be wrong...

Dale, no doubt about it. In Kyle's defense he usually has a pretty good car and has no real need to pull a dump and run. Dale's RCR cars only got out front because of the driver and many times he needed that bumper.

I think I'd rather see Keselowski vs Dale at Bristol.... I know I might flamed but out of the current guys Brad's driving reminds me the most of Earnhardt.

Flights of fancy.

Every day is not the same as every other day on the racetrack.

SR wins all things being equal. no way he would like busch win.

I wonder how a 10 lap shoot-out between those two would play out.

I could see Sr. letting Busch jump to the lead to start it off and then just beating on him before moving him out of the way with one to go.

Then again, since they repaved the place since Sr. last raced there, it's hard to say how it would go.

I think it was Ted Williams who was asked sometime in the mid -1980's, long after he had retired, how he would do against the best major league pitchers of the day.

He responded by saying that he probably couldn't hit against them quite as well as he had hit against the best pitchers of his day and then added, "Of course, I'm almost 70 years old now."

I have a feeling that if Earnhardt were alive today and asked how he'd do against current drivers like Kyle Busch, he might have a similar response.

Without hesitation, not without provocation.

Did you miss Chicagoland?
Chicagoland

Love him or hate him,This is a legitimate debate and just shows how good Kyle Busch
is to even be considered with the likes of a legend. I’m a Harvick fan through and through but I respect and enjoy watching Kyle drive a race car

This is a fun thread and all but I’d give anything to see Rusty Wallace vs Jeff Gordon in their primes in a ten lap shootout one more time around Bristol.

Will forever be my favorite moment
