Cable cutters... how do you watch the races?

Sling Tv, Playstation Vue and other similar services are IPTV, but they actually pay for the channels included in their services making them perfectly legal.
Thanks. Other than Sling and Vue, is there any easy way I can tell which services are legit and which aren't? Are the legitimate services any cheaper than sticking with cable / satellite?

You could always check this out. I think the 7 or so listed on here are probably all the legit services thus far. Whether they are cheaper or not is another story. Only way to decide is to compare channels, features and price.

OK you two, I have to be able to record any program I want. Does your setup allow this? I am sorry if it was answered in the previous 4 pages...
For me, there's an option called TV catch-up. Every channel is recorded 24/7. You select the channel and time and then watch it. It's not a traditional DVR where you select what you want to record as everything already is being recorded. You simply choose what you want to watch off of any one of the recorded channels.

PlayStation Vue is the best out there, but I like YouTube TV. It's $40 (cheaper than Vue) and has everything I need.

Between YouTube TV ($40), TikiLive ($5, for MAVTV), HBO ($15/month) and Netflix ($14/month), I'm paying less than I was for DirecTV.

I have a friend that works for Direct TV and he told me this morning that the word is there will soon be no more Direct TV or Direct TV Now. That the subscribers were leaving in droves and had been for a couple of years now. Will Dish be the only Satellite TV provider? :idunno:

I guarantee you Direct TV Now wont be going anywhere, Streaming TV is the future.

I don't see AT&T giving up on DirecTV entirely for the foreseeable future. Firstly, I believe they still have the NFL Sunday Ticket package through 2022, which remains a huge cash cow. AT&T is talking about starting another streaming version of DirecTV that is actually separate from DirecTV Now. Why they would do that and how all the confusion between twelve different versions of what DirecTV is helps their bottom line, I don't know. But AT&T is still a huge player, and they won't want to not be in the TV / streaming business.

I googled it and found all kinds of gloomy stories about it. I don't know or care about their problems, I just thought that it was interesting.

AT&T's Streaming Headache: Why Is DirecTV Now Losing Subscribers?

4:45 AM PST 2/6/2019 by Paul Bond , Georg Szalai

"Comcast, Charter and Verizon quarterly subscriber figures are coming in slightly better than Wall Street had expected. But in an ominous sign for AT&T's push to become an entertainment powerhouse — it spent $85 billion to acquire TimeWarner in 2018, after all — satellite television provider DirecTV has come up short, with even its supposedly high-growth skinny bundle streamer, DirecTV Now, losing subs."

AT&T misses on revenue, loses more DirecTV Now customers

"On Wednesday, the company disappointed Wall Street analysts by missing revenue expectations in spite of gains in new wireless subscribers and a strong media and entertainment business. It also announced continued subscriber losses for its DirecTV Now streaming service.

The main takeaway is that AT&T is facing intense competition in both its wireless and video services, where the key to success is attracting and keeping customers, while also making sure you're not giving away too much of your profits to do so".

They have to adjust their pricing. You can get many other streaming sources much cheaper.

DirecTV Now was affordable when I first got it. I haven't looked much into streaming options as of late but did hear that the prices have went up quite a bit.

I'll snap a pic of new antenna tomorrow. Only used one 10' section of conduit as it's not likely to make a difference due to trees. Plus IMO you get very high you would need to run support cables. It still will occasionally drop signal but at least don't have to go outside to tune this one. Just tap the remote a time or two to get it better. I need a different TV. Will get one when i eventually go back to work.
I had to cut cable and with a antenna and I have a Samsung 40inch and I have had to get 3 to 4 antennas because I live in a apt complex and the back of my apt has trees to where Its hard to get a signal the people on either side can get anything and I cannot
put anything on the building so just this month close to a lot of money on antennas but when I get to watch the races I get onto
You Tube and watch them.

I have it, all the channels you see in guide are there. Only drawback is that Firestick Lite or Firestick 4K Max, Google Chromecast, Apple or Android devices for now. Said they are working on Roku. They are working on DVR too. Does work on PC also.

They all appear to be there for me. If you click on the Live TV tab it has a list of 1772 channels. Seems like it might be worth looking into.
I clicked on the guide, expecting it to list everything. I saw maybe 200 or so, and had no reason to think there was anything else.

I watch on YouTube TV. My brother shares his subscription with me. It's the only thing I watch on YouTube TV.
