Cup RACE thread --- Las Vegas

I never noticed what he does, he bores me to sleep. Did he race today ? I never saw him :idunno:
I think I saw Kyle park his car over in turn 3 and walk to his motorhome so his crew had to go over and get it. Thats an a**hole

Lets see the haters explain this.

I think for me the fact the cars are so easy to drive and the lack of speed are what is killing me. If they’re not gonna run in a pack why slow the cars down so much? I’d rather just have a package like we had in the Xfinity race then. It’s early though hopefully it will improve with time

I don't understand this illusion of lack of speed people literally can't tell that they're going any slower.... it's all relative

Lets see the haters explain this.
They have found a rallying cry, they think the cars are easier to drive. :D They have to ignore all of the complaints from some of the drivers complaining about the cars being hard to drive though. Keeping the momentum up or not is causing most of the side by side racing and passing that is occurring. So some want them to go faster and turn it back to a one lane parade again. :idunno:

I don't like Logano or Keselowski, but I give them mad props for making the race fun to watch. Those two raced each other hard, fair, and clean. Not to mention they were basically on even footing. That was so cool to watch. Honorable mention goes to Ricky Stenhouse. The guy is quietly stringing together a nice, solid start to the season.

Sure was funny today watching people whine about the racing in the first 30 laps yet all that seemed to disappear going in to the final stage. Its sad that some people pre judge something before letting it play out, especially people who claim to follow the sport and who write about it and try to influence the fans who watch. If they werent personally satisfied they bellyache and complain. I personally will at least give it several attempts before I form an opinion. Maybe those in the "so called media" should do the same. In other words, stop killing our sport.

Stop whining about people whining.

This aero package is the equivalent of a Truck race on an intermediate track on restarts with aero push and spreading out after 15 laps. Mixed opinions on it so far. I've seen much better races in person.

Johnson’s winning days are over.

The uninformed types said the same about Dale Sr after the 1997 season when he didn't win a race. He opened up 1998 winning the Daytona 500. Top tier elite drivers have overall stellar careers, and they naturally taper off. JJ may not win at the pace he has in the past, but like Sr he may well have a few left in him. Also, the Chevrolets are not on par with the competition, anyone can see that. I guess JJ could run the lower tier series to feed his ego. Be he has class.

I don't understand how people think that was more boring than the previous package? Because there was no crashes or restarts? Seriously a lot intense racing and a lot of passes throughout the field...the cream still rose to the top the only drawback is the fact that the leader is extremely hard to pass, but not impossible at all!
The leader should be hard to pass.. that's why they're the leader

True...but the 1 car is what I was thinking about the Fords were all faster but took them a long time to get by. I think that was a case where the 2,4,22 were all faster but couldn't burst that bubble.
Same thing happened with the 2 earlier in the race when he took 2 tires. It took them a bunch of laps to get by him. Then Kyle Busch couldn't pass Logano for 30 laps, but when he did he drove away quickly, only to kill his race with a penalty.

True.. but I think that had a lot to do with the cars around them as well.. for a lot of that time Kurt had either Brad or Harvick behind him while Joey was left in his own lane. Once he got by they were all able to use Joey's draft to get by.

But we did have at least two times where Joey got passed and then was able to come back and pass the leader again after a few laps.. he had a long run car and it showed.

Like he said.. 100 lap run to the finish and you had 3 cars within a second of each other. I dont know what more we can ask for. I thought it was a good race. Not what I was expecting but I have no complaints at this time.

It does help my opinion that my driver won and his team seems to be the team to beat.. perception is relative after all. If your driver was mid pack of course you're not going to enjoy the race as much. That doesnt change the fact that it was good racing. People say the cars are worse in dirty air but it looked to me like the fastest cars (that finished 1 2 3 4) could make those moves and that was what seperated them from the rest.

You know what drivers are complaining....?? The ones that aren't winning...namely Toyota.

And let's face, the 2 and 22 DROVE through dirty air...one started 10th, the other 19th. It's not like they started 1-2 and finished 1-2 with no competition.

Pretty sure they set records for lead changes as well as the fastest race at this track.

To have no cautions other than stage breaks and still have that many lead changes is pretty impressive.. but all fans see is their driver not able to make progress.. NEWS FLASH.. your driver couldn't move up because they weren't fast enough!

Hamlin finished higher (10) than he did last year (17). Some of these guys are such spoiled divas any excuse will do for them. Ironically these were the same two that complained about the COT when it came out. They should join this place, they would be right at home here.

I completely agree it certainly helps that the 22 won but overall the racing was really good in my opinion!

Considering all the whining you did after the Daytona 500 do you really want to go down this rabbit hole lol

The two-race sample size is small, but Team Penske’s ability to adapt still should be hailed. The consecutive victories by Keselowski and Logano underscore that when things change in Cup, Penske is as nimble as any organization in addressing the challenge. Look no further than the 2014 move to group qualifying, and how quickly Keselowski and Logano became final-round fixtures.

Auto racing is a sport where rolling with the punches is paramount, and team owner Roger Penske has the longest track record of doing it better than anyone.
