Cup RACE thread --- Phoenix

Lmao did FOX seriously just show us a replay of his VL celebration, then miss it completely and continue to the second interview?

That is incredibly sad and slack ass broadcasting.
Well, its FOX , so.......

Besides 08, I never saw him as a legit championship contender until 2015. Was too inconsistent before
Prior to 2015, Kyle had never finished higher than 4th in points and only had one career Cup win after Labor Day. He’s definitely become more of a championship caliber driver since then.

Well good for Kybu and Rowdy nation. He gave a good postrace interview.
He beat the best today and earned the props. Worried a tad about the Hendricks team.

I don't get the lack of a post race show.......the indycar race had a ton of post race, they interviewed about 20 drivers, it was calm and relaxed, not cutting to everyone to hear them try and say 100 words in 10 seconds.

seems odd they dont interview more of the drivers on Fox

They run so many of these races to get as close to primetime as possible now that there’s no room for post-race. At least on big FOX.

Nice to have a Jimmie Johnson sighting and good to see Kyle notch another win. I do hope we can get away from this style of racing as, IMO only, it is lacking.

Race was okay, wasn't the most exciting but it happens. Kyle clearly was the class of the field today

I thought it was written in stone that you interviewed the top five, plus two random drivers unless there was time constraints.

These things may really be just too engineered anymore. NASCAR basically neutered these things and it just doesn’t matter, whole damn thing has became Indycar in a 4 door sedan.

As I said earlier we saw similar issues at Martinsville last year in the spring where these guys just refused to race hard to risk contact as it could impact the downforce of the car. Now I’m not saying we need a wreck fest but it seems like the drivers rely on the engineering of the car instead of their talents too much nowadays.

All that said I prefer to this point what we are seeing instead of last season. While there was something badass about that little downforce with 725 HP, the parity was essentially gone. 4, 18 and 78 had became pretty much Homestead locks already as their driving abilities and engineers were so far ahead of everyone it was a hopeless cause. Penske was the only saving grace to last season as they really clicked come playoff time to compete with those 3.

This season seems to be more race to race which keeps me more in tuned during the week

Kyle Busch win and now the cars are engineered to much lol.. every since I started watching nascar 4 years ago it’s been about the engineers lol... it’s the engineers that should get all the praise not the drivers.. we all watch a sport that’s based on a car and how the car will perform that day, not the human.. I like Kyle Busch because he somewhat makes me believe he is actually doing something lol.. but **** put him in mid pack equipment and he will run mid pack .. it’s all about the car .. nascar fans like to think it’s the DRIVER but it’s the CAR BOTTOM LINE

JOEY and his team had extra weeks to out engineer the other 3 last year in championship and that’s why he won.. he wasn’t his driven it wasn’t the others it wasn’t luck it wasn’t nothing but they had more time to get that car ready that’s it!! Even Joey said he had the Advantage and he was right.. I think he knew the whole time he had the win in the bag to be honest.. these drivers no.. it’s not in there hand but they can’t come out and say it because it would kill the sport even more for the few that think it’s the DRIVERS haha

No.

Kez 2018 3-in-a-Row win streak was more about driver than best engineered car on the track.

Pretty much, Chastain proved that last year in the Xfinity series. But the driver has to be good also, I think it takes both, good car and driver.

Yea some luck .. sh!t Kyle almost lost with best car today
I don't think so, Blaney on two tires? Kyle was just pacing him and saving his stuff, 3rd was 6 seconds behind until Truex started moving. Kyle passed Blaney when that started happening and Blaney fell like a rock.

I’m just saying Kyle shouldn’t never been in that position. I get what your saying though
