Nascar directed shills on this board?

I didn't start this thread to call anyone specific out but the range of comments is very interesting. If owned a multi billion dollar entity who's success was based on popular opinion I would have a department dedicated to online forumns. Like someone mentioned, one or two people can have a ton of accounts on multiple forums rather easily. I'd almost think you were negligent if you didn't do that these days.

On other forums I frequent it definitely happens and as for this one not being big enough to get attention, it shows up high in search results and has a decent amount of activity. That's how I found it and why I joined.

The only thing that bothers me about this concept is that on other boards those suspected accounts will often draw people in to committing code of conduct infractions and get them suspended. It's easy to do when you have someone with a job arguing with someone who the subject is personal to and they get emotional. It's the common tactic to suppress the dissenting opinion. I've seen many long time good members get kicked to the curb this way elsewhere...

It's a new world with new problems for sure, I don't know how to solve it though...

IDK if there are Nascar employed shills amongst us but there are some volunteers for sure. There are some fans that are very protective of Nascar and if you are not in lock step with them then look out!

I think the forum tent is big enough for all sorts of personalities. The good news is you can ignore anyone that you don’t care for but no one seems to want to do that.

I haven’t seen a conspiracy theory this good since the Jeff Gordon doesn’t do burnouts because he has traction control days.
Wish he would have used that in 07 to beat Johnson and again in 14.

I remember when we had the 'does Jeff Gordon even care anymore' thread. Well the Illuminotties shut it down and scrubbed off the face of the earth.
It hurt me real bad and tooks me a lot if meditations to move on. Sometimes I still have flash backs.

But by the grace of God my heart will go on, one day in another life we will understand it better by and by.....

I remember that one. The Gordonites were livid, it went away faster than the Danica thread.

Then they was the time AJ Foyt had to take a dump thread. He pulled into the pits in the middle of the race, and ran to the pit stall porta john, and then back to the car. That's the orgin of the relief driver and pit stall terminology.

They wiped that thread off the face of the earth, too

Anything is possible in this day and age.

There does to seem to be some board posters that run this forum.

One even called me a liar and when I asked if he was saying I was lying and where was the proof besides their opinion. My defense of myself post got deleted and the part of their post that called me a liar suddenly disappeared.

Remember those that protest the most that something is not true or impossible seem to always have the most to hide.

Because millions of dollars and time wasn't wasted on an investigation that was based on a fictitious document. That suddenly everyone that said it was the truth is in CYA mood.

This was the best race I’ve seen
Was on the edge of my seat
At the end of the stages we only miss a couple of laps
The ending was awesome
Lots of parity between the manufactures
Don’t see how racing can be improved

(On the way to the bank $$$$$, making a living, oh yeah!!!)
Dang wasn’t supposed to say anything

It is very likely that members of the sport (corporate, drivers, owners, etc) are members of this site under an alias. Why do I think that? I am relatively good friends with a professional athlete and a professional musician...I've asked them about how they treat social media including message boards. They both told me that they interact as much as any fan and often pretend to sound dumber than they are so nobody will ever suspect their true identity. Apparently it's particularly common with athletes.

If you Google NASCAR forum is the first site that comes up.. actually it's the first two.. so I'm going to have to disagree. I doubt it makes a big difference and I'm not sure if there are members undercover for NASCAR but they know that we exist for sure.
You must be new to search engine optimization.

According to GT, theres not even enough data to show interest by regions.

Which means even if you google “nascar forum” and this site appears for the top 2 results does not mean that a high amount of people are googling “nascar forum”.

Compare that with one of the largest and most active related discussion sites, the nascar subreddit, and many more people are googling this to find it.

Yes, this site is small using context.

What ever happened to our resident insider, I think he was Kurt's PR guy? Maybe he could shed some light on this subject. He had some really good insider info at times.

Yup, that's how I found this place.

If I remember correctly, didn't he say that some of his inside info made it onto Reddit from here and his sources are worried that they may get into hot water. So he's keeping it more to himself.

Time to hire a good security guard.

Its the encrypted post with a misplaced peculiar comment, misplaced punctuations, and misspelings that is the most dangerous.

All of it is Nascar mafia control techniques and code to control the conversation.

Beats Tony at Watkins Glen using the car as a Port-A.

This place is infested with NASCAR shill bots. Mods!

This has been an entertaining read....

Nope! No way, nascar could care less.

I for sure could see it happening.

Tin foil!

I’m not going to say there is, but I’m not going to say it’s impossible, or not probable.....and I’ll tell ya why.
Back in 99/2000, when I discovered the internets and the joys of message boards, I was on three catering to my nhl team ( team to be kept secret so as to protect the innocent and easily offended) - hockey’s future, ESPN ( those boards were the wild wild west and boy were they fun ), and the official board run by the organization.

There was a lot of negativity surrounding the team, many posters on ESPN and the official boards wrote critical things about everything- players, coach, general manager, owner, etc. The team/organization absolutely had “moles”, or “plants” posting on them as a counter to the negative spin. Their sole job was to steer threads towards something positive. I know this for a fact. You can believe me, this is the internet after all, and everything on it is TRUE! lol. Seriously tho, they were there. One of my buddies, not as negative as I was, was approached by the team to be one.

The team owner knew who I was, we had exchanged emails a few times on things ( I was a STH then, and those emails revolved them ), I also emailed him when the team changed coaches, and they offered 20 or so STH to a private meet and greet with the new coach, I wanted to go and he gave a pass.

Fast forward a few years....I’m on another, privately run message board for a different nhl team. I post a story, in a thread that had nothing to do with my team, about an incident. A few days later I’m checking email on a Saturday morning and lo and behold an email from the owner. He got wind of my story being posted and gave me grief about it, we went back and forth that morning about a half dozen times.

Short story made very long....never underestimate how an organization views or looks at social media.
