45th Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

That should be taken from Graham. Lol dude tried to run Dixon into the wall right there

I guarantee you a Carlin or Coyne car wouldn't get that call. Ganassi do this all the time.

Why watch this series if they're gonna penalize hard racing? God this series is just as frustrating as NASCAR

Shoutout to that 2015 title Scott Dixon won on a tiebreak against Montoya because Saga Karam mysteriously beached the car at Mid-Ohio after Dixon had pitted and Montoya was in the DANGER ZONE.

Bunch of freaking frauds.

Y'all act like there are no judgment calls in other sports. Tell Saints fans about today; THEY have something to complain about.

How does anyone disagree with that? Dude was loose as hell out of the turn, does a suicide dive then inside and makes contact with Dixon which automatically shuts off his Push to Pass

Dixon wasn't 'there' and hadn't established any kind of position alongside Rahal. He has no right to expect an unobstructed path to drive around him from behind.

It's called a minor racing incident. To use the sports analogy, this wasn't a pass interference or charging / blocking type of scenario. It's what is referred to as incidental contact.

Rahal was calm, contained, and correct. Change the rule then, you're not allowed to defend Scott Dixon at all.

There shouldn't be a race control. They can shout and push each other around after the race, go have a beer and go to the next race. If it gets out of hand, call them in for a talk. KISS

I know it's Sunday, but has the local district attorney's office commented on whether assault or endangerment charges will be filed against Rahal for that atrocity?

The racing so in so's continually take the PC wuss route with racing. Let them all block like mo fo's. The fans will cheer or cuss the blocker depending on what driver they are a fan of. It's just that simple. I cussed Truex all night long last night, but I was paying attention and was wanting the bumper.

Yeah but we’re talking about a race car with 3000 lbs and a massive steel body with bumpers. Today’s race was with turbocharged go carts that have upside down airplane wings for added downforce.

I have no problem with blocking into a corner. But swerving at the beginning of a straightaway isn’t good

You've explained your perspective better here and I grant that it is valid. I still disagree and think this doesn't constitute a penalty either by the rules as written or in overall racing spirit.

For another intelligent opposing perspective, this guy is a very knowledgeable racer and writer. His take is essentially that Rahal's first 'move' was to block the inside of the corner, and then his second 'move' was the swerve back in front of Dixon on exit. I think that's a stretch, and that Dixon has established no right to the prime racing line from behind just because he's faster. If Rahal had swerved left then right again in quick succession, that is what blocking rules should prevent.

There’s a place for blocking rules in open wheel racing, considering the much greater consequences involved. But the overwhelming interpretation around the world is that one move is allowed and reactionary moves are frowned upon. I think either camera angle looking directly down the backstretch shows Graham started moving right slightly before Dixon ever chose a direction. A lot of the problem is that the rule is also applied inconsistently and Ganassi tend to benefit from these calls more than any other team.
