Yes. Toyota gets whatever Toyota wants so long as they keep lining NASCAR’s pockets with that sweet, sweet activation money. Go to a race today. The only thing that vaguely resembles the traveling big top concourse at the track from years past is the Toyota area. Everything else is bare and empty. (Speaking from my experience at Charlotte). The only other potential car owner that could pull something like this would be Jr moving JRM up to Cup, but even he no longer drives.

Ross Chastain to the #42

Fine move by CGR right there... the idea of jones landing in that car was also interesting. Ross and Erik are Easily the two best drivers available in this silly season as far as I’m concerned.

gonna be a little strange if no one makes a play for jones...

I’m very nervous about the prospects for Erik Jones, he has to be the one HMS signs to replace JJ right? I would be shocked when the music stops he doesn’t have a dancing partner, like shocked.
Buddy I’m honestly concerned...

he’s easily the one guy left who is a proven winner and is clicking off top fives at the exact moment in Cup.

I am buying into these rumors about bubba getting the 48 though... Seems to be more of them in the last couple weeks

It should be Erik if you’re going for the best driver out there, buuuuutttttttt....

Reporting on rumors is journalistic malpractice. Pockrass’s job is to investigate the rumors and find the truth, then report on that. Being lazy and reporting the rumors from unnamed sources is just a way to do the least amount of work to meet a quota and digital ad revenue for a paycheck.

I agree, and I have yet to see ANYTHING about Bubba to the 48 that has any actual substance to it. I think there are too many "journalists' that just throw a bunch of crap on the wall, and if ANY of it sticks, they claim victory. I would say with the signing of Chastain, and if we believe Gragson's new deal is actually for Xfinity, then Jones almost HAS to be the guy for the 48, if for no other reason than default.

Pockrass usually gets it right. Bubba to the GOAT's car.
Does anyone know if the #23 is available?

Not the 48

That leaves the 48 as the lone big ride still open at this time. Does Larson get it, Jones, or someone unexpected?

I guess it's official the 13 is selling out. Wonder if that means RCR will add another car to the lineup next season?

So, the next question.

Does what happens with the 10 on the Xfinity side? I wonder if Allmendinger is interested driving full-time next season for Kaulig? Possibly Snider or Grala could be in the running since the team is housed within RCR?

The odd thing is there isn't many rumors around the 48, so I don't feel Jones is the lock for that. It just me but I wouldn't be shocked to see someone in that car who's name hasn't been tossed around a lot. Mr. H has a good reputation for picking out talent, even if no one else can see it yet

wow Chip must have been watching like a hawk the last handful of races by Ross.

Good for Ross man after that dc solar rug pull. Hope he makes the most out of that ride. I am curious what will happen with McDonalds sponsorship now tho...

Corey Lajoie?

Can you provide a source where Pockrass suggested it? At almost the exact same time you first posted this, Pockrass was reporting something completely different........

Corey Lajoie?
I still think Lajoie is still one of the favorites for the 37. I want to see Jones in the 48 next season to really see what he can do with Cliff Daniels behind him.
Cheap's marketing crew will be working hard to minimize the whole watermelon thing.

Far too controversial after the last fiasco.

please do not take this post seriously ...

Hinges on Larson staying out of the picture imo.

I think another (less desirable) scenario for Erik, since he and JGR had what seemed to be an amicable split, he ends up in a holdover ride like the 37 or 43 for a couple years. Until one of the top guy's at JGR have had enough, then they bring him back into "the family".

AWESOME! Thrilled for Ross to get a quality ride. I know it's not always a top 10 car but he will get the most out of every drop. Ross has more room to grow and will need to be more patient in select situations. Pair him with a quality Chief Whisperer and he will win.
Instant fan favorite in the Cup field, his personality and driving style is going to add a new dynamic to the field when he gets the opportunities down the line. He's worked his ass off driving for JD Motorsports, Ganassi before the DC Solar deal fell through, dealt with Premium and Spire Motorsports as well. Kind of similar to Bowman getting the 88 dealing with the backmarker equipment and shows up when the chance is given to him to move up to the next level.

I'm personally hard on him because he's a ****** fantastic driver, but he makes boneheaded moves at times. I'm certainly hyped like everyone else is for him and I'm happy his hard work, dedication, and just hard-charging style has gotten him to this point.

Good for Ross, and not really surprised, I think we all knew he would end up in a CGR seat at some point.
