What Do you Think of the New Package?

worst part about this is that it’s not like these guys are dealing with 4 banger turbos. The NA V8s are still under the hood but they are intentionally neutered.
Racing at its peak in Nascar had the same HP and none complained back then. You can't just keep improving grip and then add more HP. The best way is to make the car very hard to drive and then 550 HP would be quite enough.
Take an old 50's Rambler for a drive and you will see for yourself. :sarcasm:

right so change the car so it takes a man to drive it and let the little boys watch.
Take away the PS while your at it.
Yes. Take away the power steering that's been on the cars since the mid-70's.

Naturally, you'll have to go back to the 36:1 steering box. 5 turns lock to lock ... jus like Gramma's Buick.

high hp = high mph = aero problems = flying cars
stock 450hp crate engines?

Bingo. Let’s be honest, get em off the ground, make them non-symmetrical, and you got yourself something exciting. Engineering has created so much aerodynamic downforce it doesn’t matter anymore, an assist like DRS is probably going to be needed.

We saw this at Dover. Dude in front had so much clean air. Let’s not forget either, the racing in 2018 was horrible on 1.5+ tracks.

Never going to happen, they are not going to take a chance on a car going airborne and possibly killing and injuring many fans just to please a few who think that might make the racing better. And yeah the stats are better overall from 2018 and previous to that, and they got even better when they changed around the short track package recently. But the same thing is starting to happen with every package. As the bigger teams figure it out, they seperate themselves even more from the pack as time goes on. They have one more year with the 550 package and I would be surprised if they didn't make some changes. The 550 package was supposed to attract other manufacturers to the sport. So far it is: "build it and they didn't come".

So were most of the cars I had as a young driver. You don't have to take my post seriously word for word just try and get the drift of what I am saying.
Sometimes I go back and read what I wrote and ask myself what are you saying.
Then I walk away and don't let it bother me.

Awful argument.

Speaking of awful, the most common way that these cars get airborne is after getting t-boned and allowing lift to take place while the car is facing perpendicular to the track. This has been very common with the gen 6 car. Then NASCAR developed a package that keeps the cars closer together for longer on restarts and raises the chances of such airborne wrecks.

Racing is dangerous. No matter what is done to the cars, it will still be dangerous. The “lift” argument doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

so you say, but that is what the flaps do, bring the car down or in almost every case keep it on the ground to start with. Study airfoils, look at what flaps do and their function.

Except that these cars are so carefully designed to drive straight that if they get turned sideways at high speed, theres little hope that it stays dirty side down. Even in the xfinity series just last weekend at Kansas we saw Alfredo go over the same way.

You keep forgetting all of the design that keeps them on the track and it is all part of a system...and that doesn't come from raising them up.

He never would have flipped if it weren't for contact with the wall. Same scenario with McDowell at Texas and almost Preece at Kansas earlier this year. Kenseth would have not even flipped at Dega a few years ago if it wasn't for Danica pushing him while he was sideways.

These cars with the shark fin and roof flaps are nearly impossible to flip without additional contact, and even then it is rare. I fully believe the ride heights could be raised with some additional body adjustments, and the cars would still stay on the ground except when contacted by another car (or wall) at the proper angle.

I think the point is that cars are going to get in the air.

Speaking of air, remember Tony Stewart's flip in the 2001 500? Strangest blow over / airborne wreck I've ever seen. That car defies gravity

For the first time in 20-some years I didn’t renew my nascar season seats.
They blew up my phone and email until the last day. I’m going to respond to the last email and tell them my reason to not renew.
Fortunately, ACS is owned by NASCAR so I know they’ll get the message. Unfortunately, they don’t give a crap what fans want.
I’ve been attending NASCAR races for over 40 years. I don’t like the direction of the sport. Maybe it’s time I stop giving them my money. 2020 is prolly my last year in the grandstands.

It's going to be something when the new guy shows up and they wouldn't come out to play unless it is 550 hp.

Nobody is going to come to the sport until the Next Gen. Why would they? Who in their right mind would come, develop their ****, only to have it all flushed down the toilet with the new car? Oh wait, Toyota did that in the transition year between Gen 4 and COT. Not talked about ever, but that is commitment to the sport.

From Jayski:

1,190 – Green flag passes for the lead in the NASCAR Cup Series, second-most in the past 14 seasons.

20.0 – The average number of lead changes per NASCAR Cup Series race, the most since 2014 (21.17).

20 - Number of races with a margin of victory of less than a second, most since 2014.

Some people need an on board fact checker to follow them around.
From Jayski:
3 - Three new teams have announced they will enter the NASCAR Cup Series in 2021, including 23XI Racing owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.

Looks like Justin Marks (has fairly big pockets w/family), Denny Hamlin (self explanatory), BJ McLeod/Matt Tifft (rich family) did?

Could a 550HP engine that isn’t a strangled beast and is instead a smaller engine with more throttle response be involved in the future?
copied from your post.

You probably need to explain to them what "lock to lock" is ;)

Sorry, talking manufacturer.

Oh yeah, and you are that? I meant manufacturer.
