2021 IndyCar Miscellaneous Thread

Marco is going part-time for 2021:

I didn’t think he’d cut back this soon, tbh. Seeing him run with Jarett would be cool but I think they have to wait until next year, I don’t believe the Prototype Challenge regs allow that so it would have to be WeatherTech Championship. I’m sure he’ll manage to carve out a schedule for 2021 still.

Been saying for years, Marco would be perfect in IMSA. He's extremely consistent and honestly is a solid all-round driver. Marco is quick in the wet, we all know about his car control and this could be a great thing for him to move to a different series.

He and Jarett would be a really good team in the Prototype series and don't forget Herta has a Pirelli World Challenge team associated with Hyundai.

He will be more than capable in this series or anything else he will drive.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Jackie Heinricher were involved in some sort of owner/partner capacity.

Marco is going part-time for 2021:

First off yes I’m still alive. Even though I made it a running joke to sh!t on Marco, I’ll miss him running full-time. He has good qualifying pace and at times good race pace but it’s just inconsistent as hell. Before the last 2 or 3 years, he really wasn’t running that bad and I think IMSA would be good for him and honestly I would he finds some success there

Oh boy...

Rick has no problem fielding full time cars.

Filling them with full time drivers seems to be an issue.
Sounds like that was Cody Ware testing at Sebring.

Not sure I feel great about that.

Edit: But he was already announced as full-time in Cup so Idk what that means.

Maybe it means Rick couldn't find anyone else to sit in the seat?

Excuse the cynicism. This team just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This is making sense now.

With Team Goh leaving Coyne and Ware bought the car from off of Coyne. So I'm guessing instead of the 18 and 55 like last year, we will see Dale Coyne Racing w/Rick Ware Racing type of deal. Coyne does all of the prep work, Ware signs off the check along with the newly amassed funding Fittipaldi is bringing in.

The last time Pietro was at Coyne he was sharing a car with ZCD. Now he will probably get a chance to show what he can really do with a full-season under his belt.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking too. Thought it seemed like a separate RWR car at first but this makes sense, Fitti has been rumored to Coyne the whole offseason pretty much. As long as Dale’s team is preparing the car it shouldn’t catch on fire and **** every weekend.

I would be more than okay with a Grosjean/Fittipaldi lineup at DCR.

US Concrete left and I think Marco could not find a sponsor to replace them. Missing out on that money last season was the nail in the coffin.
Andretti Autosport at St. Pete last season was one of the most cursed races for any team in any one race I’ve seen in a while.

Heard there may be a chance Coyne’s entries are Ed Jones full-time and Grosjean splitting a ride with Cody Ware (lmao). I read a few weeks back that there were four main candidates - Jones, Grosjean, Fittipaldi, and Charlie Kimball. I would be surprised to see Fitti out of contention.

I’ll admit this makes way more sense than the previous standalone IndyCar Gold Pass, which probably saw no more than 10,000 subscribers the last two seasons.

Kimball, RoGro, and Fittpaldi are understandable, but Jones? He was horrible in the IR-18 kit and he couldn't adjust his driving style to it, he seems to be fairing well with Scuderia Corsa in IMSA. Just leave him be there.

Ware is full time in Cup

Not a super sexy pick but he did well with them in his first stint at least. What the rest of their plans are could be any wildass guess at this point.
