follow Kyle Larson

That is your opinion. Like I said I am not a fan..lets move on.

Nothing I stated in that post was an opinion, other than that I prefer sprint cars as purer racing machines. It's fine to not be a fan. There are lots of things I'm not a fan of. I don't tend to imply that they are objectively lesser unless I have knowledge about them to back it up.

couldn't do it could ya. Welp, Larson wins driving a late model the first time he had ever driven one against some of the best..How many seconds did he win the race by his second time? Probably could have been a larger margin. So you can go on and on about how tough the class is, and it is for lower tier drivers IMO, not Kyle Larson. Again that is my opinion.

It was you that couldn't stay quiet about something you don't like. Be prepared to hear from people who do. I'm here to set the record straight. His late model finishes so far are:

5th Port Royal
1st Port Royal (by 0.499 seconds, since you asked)
23rd Charlotte
8th Charlotte
1st All-Tech

If he dominates later this year in late models, I'll be the first to give him credit as a generational talent, not because the class is easy pickings. Again, look at Schatz try to keep up with them. They require different skills, and Larson just happens to seemingly have them all.

I might be saltier than usual, as I just unloaded a moving truck. But I stand by my statements.

I wasn't questing that race. I probably didn't make it plan enough. I was talking about his latest win at All Tech at over 15 seconds and probably could have been more. :idunno:I know it isn't a popular opinion, and time will tell how many late model races he makes during the year. I'm thinking not many because it looks like a full Cup schedule. Moving? bleh, May all your boxes be light.

Gotta go with Gnome on this one. I can't even think of a sprint car driver switching over to dirt late models and having any success even close to Kyle or vise versa. Hewitt did some and Charlie Swartz flipped the other way. It is a rarity these days. I wouldn't think of comparing it to the Cup and Xfinity series.

Can you say wedgie? Maybe someday...like NASCAR, they will at least "try" to mirror a production car.

Oh, they let go of that illusion nearly a half century ago. If someone wants to put together a touring super street stock class that drives around 5-7 seconds slower per lap, have at it.

I did expect "late model", which no longer makes the slightest bit of sense, to morph into a different term. It was tried in the '00s with DIRTcar, but it didn't really take. Oh well.

My guess...we all guessing...is any of the guys that finished in the top 10 in that race would have won by a similar gap IN THAT CAR. But since you don't like those cars or know much about the two premiere series you wouldn't know about Rumley's success. He put Jonathan Davenport on the map. But Dick Petty says dirt racers aren't professional so guess not.

I focus on watching the rear end housing “steer” ... saves me from some of the hideous stuff.

Back in the day when i was involved with these they were jacking the LF 2' in the air. Frequently got wadded up in the turns cause they couldn't see the guy literally under them. Were running a straight 8-10" track bar connected to LH side of pinion. LF would pop off ground driving out of pits. Cars would bounce up and down like a carnival ride. Ran floating brake mounts with rods connected to frame You can see it here. The level rod is for the caliper. Somebody finally figured out the spring in front or behind of housing on birdcage made a huge difference in hike up. Plus using trail braking. I really lost connection with all this stuff 15 or so years ago. Some local guys were still wheelieing a couple years ago when Iast went to the track. 4 wheels will always be faster than 3...until it isn't.

Larson showed up unannounced in the Rumley #6 last weekend at Tazewell for their $21,000 to win spring late model special, and finished second to fellow Longhorn driver Jonathan Davenport. Davenport was pretty dominant, and Larson battled late with Tyler Erb, holding on for second while Erb settled for third.
